I loved the Defenders - but we'd need Nighthawk, Valkyrie and Son of Satan as well as Dr. Strange.

You're thinking of the Invaders. Whose roster was Captain America, Bucky, Both Golden Age Human Torches (Human Torch and Toro) and Namor. Although in Invaders #1 its just Human Torch, Captain America and Namor.

The Original Defenders roster was Namor, Hulk, Doctor Strange and Silver Surfer.

He was an Illuminati as well which was Black Bolt, Mister Fantastic, Namor, Iron Man, and Professor X

He was a member of the All-Winners Squad whose roster was Captain America, Bucky, Human Torch, Toro, Namor, The Whizzer and Miss America.

He was a brief member of Deep Six which included Namor, Stingray, Andromeda, Tiger Shark, Tamara Rahn, and Triton.

Of course he was an Avenger and is Marvel first Printed Mutant but as was said before Apocalypse and I think a bunch of other Mutants actually were born before him.
