Re: Natedog's figure bashes and customs - Update! Ahsoka Tano Page 26

I was only out hunting for this kind of stuff on Sunday. You took the idea right out of my head and made it how I want mine to look! LOL. I think it's amazing. Great job. I used aquarium plants on my Dagobah display, they are so cool looking.

Re: Natedog's figure bashes and customs - Update! Ahsoka Tano Page 26

He's done...He's finally done. I've been picking up pieces and working on this guy for a few months now. He's a total kitbash. Some genuine SSC bits, some cast SSC bits, some genuine Marmit bits, some cast Marmit bits, some other odds and ends from DID etc and some custom stuff. I'm pretty happy. Not totally screen accurate I know, I was using the "How long have you had these droids" trooper as a base. I think the orange pauldron is more iconic and thats what I wanted. The T-21 is pretty badass so I wanted to use one of those. This one is a Lewis machine gun from DID I think that I modified. Not the SSC version. Weathering...Oh the weathering...took me all day yesterday and all last night to get it looking the way it is now. Still may be a tweak here and there, but I'm happy :)

Whatcha think? Again sorry for the crap pics/harsh lighting!

Re: Natedog's figure bashes and customs - Sandtrooper pg29

Love the Luke figure. So much so that I've ordered that head from eBay. Also great work on the Sandie. The orange pauldron trooper just stands out more than the rest. He's probably in my top 3 figures that I own.

Re: Natedog's figure bashes and customs - Sandtrooper pg29

Sandtrooper and Luke look great Nate. I've actually been doing the same thing with putting together a Sandtrooper from parts I've bought here and there. I need to put him together and post him here. Maybe we could start a trend of Do-It-Yourself Sandtrooper building?? :lol

Re: Natedog's figure bashes and customs - Sandtrooper pg29

yeah I have done the same thing with my sandtrooper as well. collecting parts here and there. I now have a desert sands trooper and still have the marmit squad leader to put together yet. that should give me 5 sandies.

Yeah the Orange is the best!

Great weathering on the Sand trooper!

Thanks man!

Good idea

I'd like to get another, but then I'd have to get a Dewback too and a Mos Eisley scene... and I'm OK with that :)

Sandtrooper and Luke look great. Nice job.
Thanks Chris. I actually watched a video that I think you made a while back on the sandie weathering. It made me alter mine quite a bit :) Originally it was a lot more muddy/oily.

Wow, thanks man. Thats funny. :)

I had almost forgot that I posted a few youtube videos a while back. That one is probably 3 years old. I am glad it inspired you to make yours.

Maybe I should do some updated videos. I have done some more work on my Sandies since then.

You guys got a link for these videos? I'd be interested to check them out.

Nate, this looks so great. I love the wind/sand staining on his chest plate. I really like this figure a bunch man. I saw someone selling casted pieces a while back on eBay. Might have to grab me some!

Again, really great work.:clap

Re: Natedog's figure bashes and customs - Sandtrooper pg29

Thanks guys! I started off with the technique some guys in the 501st are using on their 1:1 armor. Burnt umber applied everywhere and wiped off with a damp cloth, then repeat with a another dark (almost black) brown. The result looked good but was too dark and "muddy" looking. It works well on the 1:1 but not this scale. So I wiped most of it off leaving more on the lower half. Then used a scuff pad and some 1000 grit sandpaper in some places and then applied pastels to those areas. The backpack is just drybrushed with silver and then pastels.

Probably should put this in the "show us your shelves" thread, but the pics are crappy so...

I haven't posted anything in a while because I've been busy. This is 6 months (on and off) in the making :) The lights are $0.99 puck lights that I gutted and replaced with 3 x 1W LEDs each. All of them are on a constant current circuit and 1 switch now. The shelves are EKBY TRYGGVE from Ikea. I tried to hide the wires as much as I could. All in all I'm happy and it all cost <$90. The wall is now complete flanked by a Billy unit on each side. No pic of the whole thing yet. I'm reworking the Billy's now.

Only 3 spots let.

DUDE! Freaking epic! I long to have a display area like this one day. Its beautiful. :clap

Re: Natedog's figure bashes and customs - Sandtrooper pg29

:gah: I can't decide!

I need some help guys/gals. I'm presently reworking all of my shelves and cabinets. I can't decide if I want to keep all of the "heroes" together and all of the "villians" together or should I mix them up to sort of create scenes. I like the look of all similar figure types together (i.e. all troops together) but I'm falling short on the amount of bad guys. Spreading things out would make it more uniform, but I really like having good/evil separated.

I'm also trying to keep each movie separated as much as possible. Clone Wars is separated as well.

Any thoughts? I can post some pics of what I have to work with if that helps. Basically its the shelves I posted above plus 2 Billy units (15" deep ones). There are 4 shelves per unit with a riser on each shelf so each shelf can hold 8-10 figures.

Re: Natedog's figure bashes and customs - Sandtrooper pg29

I try to go scenes. I try to put all my ANH stuff together, all the Imperials together, bounty hunters together. I know what you mean about "falling short" in some areas. Like "what to put with my Biker Scout? It doesn't fit in".

I think I would go movie specific and then go from there. Yes, please post pics of what you got. :D

Its a fun problem to have eh???

Your display space is awesome. Have fun.
