Re: Natedog's figure bashes and customs - "Utinni"

Thanks Natedog. Would you know roughly how long your hoth boots stayed in the bath?

I can't remember if the hoth hats are vinyl. I find the hasbro hats too big. Are you going to shrink the hat down as well, so it fits similar to SS's?

Completed my HRT. Sort of. The goggles are temporary until Hot Luke gets parted out. The hat isn't awesome but its all we have to work with. Any suggestions for keeping the flaps tighter to the face? I tried reforming them with hot water then setting it with cold water, but they just bounce back. I really don't want to glue them in place. I did not shrink the hat, maybe thats the way to go. Anyways... here he is...

Hey that looks really nice. Great job on the backpack. I have an idea for the hood. Try feeding thin wire into the edges. You would have seen SS do this with some of theirs.

If the hat was fabric that would work, but its old school kid friendly vinyl that you can run over with your car and not have to worry.

Fantastic job. Nice attention to detail on the holster, rank badges etc. He looks great, good stuff.

Re: Natedog's figure bashes and customs - Echo Station 3TA

Hey that looks really good! The hat isn't that bad. You could try shrinking the hat but you might have to shave off the head sculpt to fit it back on. You could try adding a chin strap. I think Luke's hat in the movie had an elastic chin strap that uses Velcro. Maybe try gluing a thin strip of elastic to the flaps?

If you don't mind me asking what did you use for gloved hands?

Thanks everyone!

I did try an elastic strap but I glued both ends. Needless to say it did not work because you could not get it on the head afterwards. I guess I could glue one side, then the other after its on the head. I may try that. I may be able to scrape up some thin velcro for one side although it may not be strong enough.

Man looking at the pics, those goggles are horrible :lol. I think I'll just take them off until I get some good ones.

These are the hands I used. Search for 1/6 BBI Gloved Hands. Modified for a HT wrist peg and obviously painted.

I was thinking the same thing as I looked at the pic's. :lol Great job. Shouldn't be too long before the Hoth SS figures get parted out.

Love the attention to detail. Awesome work on the backpack.

The only problem with that "solution" is that I don't think the goggles come as a separate piece. From what I can tell the goggles are attached to the heads. Same goes with the hats. So in order to get the goggles you'd have to buy the parted out head sculpt and cut the elastic loose and replace it afterwards.

Re: Natedog's figure bashes and customs - Echo Station 3TA

They got to be separate. but if not it should still be doable.

Re: Natedog's figure bashes and customs - Echo Station 3TA

From all the pictures and reviews I've seen, it never shows them separate from the hat. It looks like the straps go under part of the hat and are probably attached under it.

Not saying that it couldn't be done, but as far as TA parting it out, you'd have to buy the whole Luke head. Which if it were me and I'd made such a freaking sweet Hoth trooper, I would go for it. Because then you could use other parts to improve the Hasbro hat. Like the sweet looking antenna.

Re: Natedog's figure bashes and customs - Echo Station 3TA

They aren't exactly what you're looking for, but you could try looking up 1:6 CCT goggles. They'd be better than Hasbro's. I think the SS goggle straps go through loops on the back of the hat. With the way the prices of these figures are going, I'm not sure TA will be parting out too many of them.
