All her family have Indian paintings and statues, and dream catches around their homes (even we), it's just like none of them tried to find anything out. I guess over time it was more beneficially (racism and all) just to keep quit about it.

Does she have any interest in her other blood lines or just the Native part? I've always only concerned myself with who I actually knew personally. After that I don't really care. I have no desire to trace anyone back past my great-grandparents.

I might be related to No Pants Valdez or something. :panic:

Unfortunately on her Dad's side his mother died when he was very young, and so if she knew anything it died with her. On her Mom's side is where she has been told things and they are the ones with all the Indian paraphernalia around their homes. She has also been told about other European blood lines in her family (I can't remember them right now), but right now with her it's one thing at a time. Plus her sister (who are too lazy to do any digging their selves) have an interest in knowing so she concentrating on this heritage right now.

Personally, I have been told that I have blood lines from Russia and Germany (Wagoner, but they would have pronounce it with a V sound not a W), and one Aunt (I had a Great Grandmother whose maiden name from Franklin) claimed we were related to Benjamin Franklin, but I don't put much credit in it. He only had two legitimate sons , one died at a early age and the other moved to England.

My wife has more than word of mouth, she actually has census records and copies of birth certificates.

Um the only thing I can attribute to this conversation is:

Had a concession business asked could I sell for revenue at pow-wow.

Pow-Wow: No

Me: Why

Pow-Wow: Not Indian.

:monkey2

But in all seriousness, it really depends on what tribe etc... and if you have keen features. Tbh I have Cherokee, my fiancee has it too. But my fiancee has more. Like 10% more than me? Me I'm just a German/Irish/Scottish/Native/ freakin white boy I guess. I mean I can see why I'd never get accepted, one because I'm Chris Rock's intro joke. :lol

You can look at some of her relatives and you'd never know it, but like I may have mentioned before others like her sisters still have some features (black as night hair, and other traits I'd rather not say to keep from insulting anyone), none of her people seem to be able to grow very much facial hair (and I'm talking about the males); if any at all and many of them have dark skin (then a pale white guy like me) and only get a little darker out in the sun.

Big noses? :lol

Both of my brothers are blue eyed blondes like my Mother, but they have my Dad's big honker! Me, I have dark hair and eyes but have my Mother's nose. Thank goodness.

seek Blackthornone's counsel. that guy traced his lineage way before he swam the sperm race that mattered. lolz

Well I wouldn't say they're big, but some have some pretty wide looking ones, but I've got a big honker myself so I can't judge.

Here is a link with some information about getting tribal citizenship.

Cherokee Nation citizenship does not require a specific blood quantum. It does require that you have at least one direct Cherokee ancestor listed on the Dawes Final Rolls, a federal census of those living in the Cherokee Nation that was used to allot Cherokee land to individual citizens in preparation for Oklahoma statehood.
