So I asked NECA about an Returns Batman, and this is thier answer...

NECA ‏@NECA_TOYS 28m
“@Psycho_50501: @NECA_TOYS @rsavaiano @NECA_TOYS How bout a Returns Batman?” Maybe later. Just did 3 Bats, need a change

Atleast it's not a NO...

hmmm maybe NECA don't like money?

thus far this line is amazing and batman = printing money

Prob not I do see thier point, though... We need some Villians to go with the Batman's released... Origins Joker,66 Joker, and Bale Batman to go with Dark Knight Joker...

No I asked Randy if there were any more 1/4 Batman figures coming out after Joker/Robin and he told me yes....

I'm sure they'll get the Keaton Returns suit or a Bale Batman out as their next Batman figure. Also, I can't see them passing up on the opportunity to retool their sculpts, so I fully expect a "surfs up" '66 Batman and a Battle damaged '89 Batman variant.

A returns batman would use more or less the same parts as the 89 batman. The main difference that I remember is the chest armor is completely different. It doesn't have the sculpted abs and looks more like an armor piece. That's easy to replace on the neca figure since the sculpted abs is a separate piece from the torso. Change the bat symbol on the chest and create a smoother cowl and we got a returns batman. We pretty much keep everything else the same, the legs, belt, arms and cape. Sculpt a new batarang that resembles the remote controll version and we've got a new figure that people would buy.

I hope we see some behind the scenes stuff during SDCC. I would love to see how they're handling the Bale armor.

Umm there's a little more to it than that... The gloves from returns are also different as the 89 only had one set of groves on the gloves where the Returns suit had two... Boots were slightly different also...

Yeah, it wouldn't be a simple retool. The only thing they could really reuse would be the belt, cape and Michael Keaton headsculpt. Everything else would have to be brand new tooling.

If NECA ever does another Keaton Batman, I bet it's a Battle Damaged Cathedral '89 version. Why? So they can easily reuse 90% of the the existing sculpt. Like so,

So which figure is nicer looking in the long run, the 1/6 Hot Toys version, or this NECA 1/4 scale version?

Saw this in person yesterday. And it was next to the hot toys 1:4 bale batman. And I was really shocked and impressed at how well the NECA held it's own against the much dearer hot toys.

I didn't realized that the Returns suit was missing the metal "guards" on the gloves til I saw it in this thread about a year ago.

No big deal in the long run but a neat little difference that hopefully Neca/Hot Toys and Mattel (if they ever get their #$it together) would recognize.

Yeah sorry you guys are right, its been awhile since I seen them didn't realize the suits looked so different.
