NECA: Alien Movie Franchise Figures

I'm not really a fan of slapping modern-day accessories onto classic weapons. The flash suppressor, laser module and reflex sight all look really out of place and really break up the design of the classic rifle. And I know that it is that way in real life, but that laser module looks giant on the side of the rifle. I would think in the future a component like that would be very miniaturized or even unnecessary with HUD displays and the like technology.

Since it looks like we are probably getting Colonial Marines in the film (and not just their weapons) I wonder if there will be any changes to the armor. And if there are Colonial Marines, and there is a character worthy of a figure, if NECA will make one.

From everything I've read and hearing him talk about it, it seems like Aliens 2 is what we might be getting. I wouldn't be surprised if the Xenos in it are carbon-copies of the Cameron-style Aliens and not something new or original. Although that would be good for NECA as they already have the sculpt ready to go.

I got the Kenner Alien and Predator two pack a few weeks ago and just love it. First I rewatched Predator and it's such a fun movie.

The last night I borrowed my friend's Alien Anthology bluray and watched Alien and Aliens (director's cuts.) I'm making my way through Alien3 now, but it's still pretty much as crappy as I remember it.

Watching these movies is really making me want to buy MORE Neca Aliens....but I don't have a lot of space, let alone the funds necessary. If I DID get just one more I'd get that recent Black Genocide version to have an Aliens warrior to go with my 1979 style Alien.

Any chance anyone has ALL of the NECA releases to date? I'm trying to find a good resource online and I can't find anything. I'd love to see a list, or even better, pics of the whole damn collection. I know it's a long shot but if anyone has a pic of such a spectacular set up, I'd love to see it!!

There's really not nearly as many as I thought. Not like Predator....man, that's a lot of Predators and variants!

Oh man....I remember watching Alien 3 exactly once on VHS when it came out and being terribly disappointed.

So all these years later I'm trying again, watching "The Assembly Cut" on bluray, and good lord, it's even worse than I remember it. It's awful. Just plain awful. Bleak, dark, claustrophobic sets, unlikable, interchangeable characters all dressed alike with bald heads and no personality, pseudo-religious nonsensical elements in the story, and a loooooong, drawn-out, chase-the-monster story without an element of suspense. Oh man it's so, so bad. I can't imagine how pissed people must have been sitting through this in theaters.

(And I don't even have to mention the insult of killing the characters from Aliens in the first 30 seconds as well as the complete nonsense that the plot hinges on that the Queen somehow magically impregnated Ripley. Blitheringly stupid.)

I'm not even going to put Alien Resurrection in the player cause I remember that one being WORSE than Alien 3 when it came out.

I'm just going to pretend Alien and Aliens are all there is.

Well said Oto, 3 and 4 are garbage.

3 is an absolute insult to what came before and it was indeed painful to watch in the theater.

At least you are being fair by giving 3 another chance.

There's a reason the movie is considered a tremendous failure, because it is.

All this "directors cut" BS is just Fox being greedy trying to collect on that failure.

The dog alien being cool looking doesn't save that movie.

Don't even get me started on 4.

Kill this franchise already, take it out of its misery, there will never be another Alien/Aliens again.

Same for Terminator and Predator.

Agreed. I like Alien 3 over Aliens, particularly the Assembly cut. but I prefer the Nightmarish/horror quality of 3. I loved the aesthetic to it all. Aliens just doesn't hold up for me at all. Alien is of course a masterpiece.

When I first saw 3 I was dissapointed. I was expecting more "Aliens" but that's the whole point of Alien3. If they gave you more Aliens it would have become watered down more and more to the point that it became dumb. Funny enough it became dumb with 4. So guess the studio got what they wanted. Alien 3 is by far more alien than aliens. Aliens is great a classic , but 3 is just a an extension of Alien. The assembly cut is the only cut...the music the guts it took to take out Newt and Hicks abd remind people the alien universe is not middle America it is not just guns and entertainment, it's a philosophy it's dark clostrophobia based and hopeless. This is Alien this is the whole concept. Blomkamp is writing and it will be his exact same plot as all his other work small guy hears big company has technology and little guy gets technology and uses it to take down big corportation. While Ripley is 66 years old.

Alien 3 gets a lot of appreciation online these days, so much so that when I see a post dismissing it as the garbage everyone thought it was in '92 it actually surprises me. So there's a rise in appreciation for Alien 3 in tandem with a rise in criticism towards Aliens. Personally I wish everyone wouldn't feel the need to crap on Aliens in order to big-up 3. There's room to like both, I've been doing it for years.
