NECA: Alien Movie Franchise Figures

NECA 1/4 2015 Big Chap

What kept me from ordering this bad boy for so long was the roulette that came with not knowing which one you'd get. I wanted the open mouth version, and luckily, I stumbled upon one in a local low-key toy shop nearby. I didn't hesitate and now I have my first Xenomorph since the Kenner ones of the mid 90's.

However, I'm no expert when it comes to these guys and know some of them have QC. So I was wondering if you, fellow collectors, could rate this specimen? Is it okay, so to speak? My main concerns being the dome, mouth and surrounding areas. The head, really.

Yeah I know what you mean. I ended up with two of these, both opened mouthed versions as its a crapshoot trying to get one or the other. For anybody who needs an opened mouth version (no discernible QC issues as far as I can tell as its sealed in the box), I've got one and would be willing to trade for a closed mouth version. Just PM me. The QC on these are hit and miss it seems. The one you've got looks terrific.

I was bored last night so I found out a couple things.

1) if you have the power loader and the Kenner Ripley - you can swap out the left hand that came with the power loader to get a better grip on the smart gun.

2) if you a looking for a flamethrower with a sling and have an extra Aliens Ripley you can carefully split apart her pulse rifle/flame thrower combo but it will take some painting or re-sculpting and painting the weapons after you are done.

I'm going to use the flamethrower with sling for Frost until such a day comes when Drake gets released(I hope) then he will get it thrown over his shoulder.

Thanks! I saw a bunch of stuff on google images, but was looking to see if there were clearer pictures in full light. I recognize that given the movie is almost 40 years old, they might be scarce. Your pic is helpful though.

Thanks. The landing gear is sadly one of the few metal parts, so it took a dremel tool to get it done. Mostly just cut em off, cut em down and super glue back on.

The rear skid required a cut on the lip of the skid so it could sort of tilt back a bit and sit more flush (as per the real one). Not 100% accurate, but close enough I think.

I don't think it's worth the hassle. Maybe Drake ll get his own flamethrower. I do hope, that Neca will also take into account the difference between the two smartguns. HT were not smart enough to notice.

Customizing Apone makes sense, since mr Matthews declined to provide his likeness. Hence we got Windrix

Customizing Dietrich with Necas Twilight head is also questionable. Doable but questionable.

I know its completely impossible but i would DIE if Neca announced them making a limited run of these in scale with their Aliens figure line

In a fairly recent post, Randy actually referred to Matthews as "unreachable" or "Can't be reached" (one of those two phrases). He is a man who appreciates his solitude and is on record as having moved at least once to escape public recognition. They never directly said he declined. In fact in 2006 or 07, he was directly quoted as being totally open to a figure so long as "looks like him" (a shot at the hot toys figure) and he "gets paid" but it seems in his older age he has retired away from the limelight and is not an easy man to find.

Also how do you mean 'questionable'? Not worth the hassle or you have a better plan? If the better plan is not doing a Dietrich, then I must respectfully disagree, sir! One way or another, she is needed.

Gotta admit it could have been better. The figures are more than a bit underwhelming but I do actually really like the shirt, the steel poster, and the comic. Not shabby I guess.
