Don't panic mate, you may get a good one. The main issue you can't get away from is the plastic used is low quality. The legs are hollow and the upper body very heavy compared to the legs, so a stand is a must. They've used that funky clear plastic that has a purple tint in certain light for the dome and lower jaw, hence the painted lips. The sculpt is amazing so if you get one with decent paint, no warping and no scratches on the dome you may be pleasantly surprised. Being the colossal **** that I am, I actually kept mine. I spent hours on Sunday trying to De-warp the Ox jaw with a hairdryer. Every time I think I've got it sorted it curls round again. Lord knows how they managed to get it in that state in the first place, it boggles the mind. Why did I keep it? I have some deranged form of Stockholm Syndrome. Besides that Amazon no longer pick up returns and I couldn't be arsed trying to return it. I'm actually pretty pissed of with myself right now. The box is hella cool though!

Well I ended up OK I think:mummy. Good luck with improving - I get it tho, sometimes you just get sick of return/exchange process:(. So mine has small back spines bent - I tried heating but they bounce right back. I finally gave up and figured it looks more "real" LOL. Tiny opaque spot on one side of dome.

Overall, for what I wanted it for - a reasonably affordable piece re homage to an incredible, terrifying and haunting iconic design - I'm good. Thanks to the gloss paint and huge size, on a high shelf in the TV room it'll freak out visitors LOL. Sure, I'd buy for the Alien or movie art collector.

But. My right knee joint is looser than I like - always wary of plastic? ratchet joints. The lower softer rubber skirt bends with deep knee poses, so overall this guy won't be posed doing anything fancy. Not till I can get some support rods, and not too much then. I don't mean to imply he feels cheap - he's pretty heavy, and the ratchet joints feel strong enough. Good head movement. IMO a basic-ish paint job - good, but looks like a 1 or maybe 2 color wash with a brown/taupe. Metallic paint teeth. Like YT reviews say, thick paint means warm up back tubes etc. before trying to fit. (It's so cold now I let stuff warm to room temp if left outside by mail overnite anyway). The brain under dome effect IMO awesome:clap

Overall at U.S. retail, think it's a fair price for what u get (mine was POd at BBTS). If u can paint some minor touch-up or adding some clear slime might even add more to effect. He's not easiest to move/pose due to sheer bulk. Don't regret getting him but pretty relieved dome was OK!

Haven't finished playing with all articulation. Guess I don't need to suggest to collectors to unbox and work joints a bit - well, I do. So they don't stick together for eternity from thick plastic or paint.:horror

PS. The YT story of the original Kenner being pulled from shelves "for being too scary" is pretty funny.:lol (Man, I'll never forget the first time I saw the inner mouth come out on screen - freaky!)

It's a great retro box for sure.:)

i woudn't say how many spikes the head shelf should have (seriously saw people counting them on this very forum to check accuracy), but yeah i'm pretty sure about tubes direction :monkey3

Appreciate it, actually:gah:. TBH like reviews say - at least on mine - was paying more attention to fitting the *&^% things on - thanks to the thick paint and not-flawless molding now I gotta re-do.:monkey2:monkey2:monkey2

I mean it took a fair amount of heating (without ruining anything) and fighting with the TUBES. D&*#!!!! Waz so happy when I got 'em on.
D@mm1t:lol

And just sayin' the tail ain't that easy to bend into nice curves either. Maybe I should've eased into my first Alien with a smaller version, but hafta say he's pretty impressive on the shelf:clap. More so after I fix the &^%$ tubes.:monkey3

A revised Ripley from the first movie is coming! :yess:

Their post just shows an unpainted prototype, but they say the head is new and that it?ll feature photo real printed paint applications. I?m definitely curious.
I think it?s a great news for your average collector. Paint job was the Single biggest issue with Neca figures. I don?t think that there is a lot of ppl willing to go, where I went commissioning a repaint of the whole Aliens line.

The paintjob on the original '79 Ripley was actually one of the better ones NECA have done.

Agreed. She's still a pretty solid figure, I'm glad I got her when I had the chance.

This new release sounds promising, as long as the quality control is good I'll pick one up. I had a feeling with this anniversary line that Ripley would return, and would include the cat carrier and the tracker as new accessories.

Speaking of which, it feels like this anniversary line has been teased and talked about for ages now. I wonder why it has been delayed so much.

In my never-ending search for reviews of NECA's 40th Anniversary alien, I came across this review:

Watch at your own risk... :lol

Well she's very enthusiastic. No QC issues either! Horror Movie And Monster Collectables has a review up and he got a relatively QC issue free figure too.

Enthusiastic is right... she really digs the, uhm, sexual aspects of the design... :lol
I noticed that NECA have been very tricky with the packaging, it forces the legs apart at the knees to get that typical Bolaji Badejo shape of the legs. But I'm afraid it strains the knee articulation a bit much.
Ah well, here's hoping I get a decent one.

I think I saw the Movie and Monster Collectables review as well, will go back and make sure.

Well, that really depends on where you stand regarding gender issues.
I do believe she started out (i.e. was born) as a man, but she clearly identifies herself as a woman. So I'll call her a "she". :dunno

A coupe of years ago I worked on a campaign for transgender women and got to talk to a lot of them. After a while you just see them as women, and when we were discussing things in the agency we always referred to them as women.
