seized?Stop moving

I hot water my figures right out of package. After that i move (while still warm} wiggle all there joints.Ihave not had one bad figure. But i have not done super poses

Well glad to hear you've been lucky, I wish I could say the same. The arm of the Alien that broke yesterday was actually working fine. I just went to pose it and it fell off! I'll try the hot water trick on the others. How hot & how long do you leave them in?

Thats hard to say , i dont think it needs to soak but it better than a dryer because it get deeper in the the joints. The only thing is i am not super posing them , i love the hive feel so more the merrier. So i may fall victim if i start to go dynamic

Just wondering is it worth buying these? In the US they are $20 each but in the UK they are about 20 pound, thats about $30 and the double pack are nearly 40 pound that is about $60. If ordering online it will cost more including postage and packaging.

The sculpting is excellent. However, the QC is NOT! You'd better read back several pages in this thread to decide whether or not the hassle is worth your risk and/or money. Its a shame really..... :lecture

You guys have to be careful with the Hot Water and toys.

I did it once with another toy and the plastic went from black to dark grey, and the leg warped a little bit. The leg was okay but the color definitely changed. Now one leg is all black and the other one looks faded darkish grey.

I was afraid of doing the water again,

I've always found it funny that many people worry about having high humidity in their homes because it could harm their collectibles, yet other people dunk their figures in scalding hot water in hopes to improve them. :lol

I wouldn't use boiling water, I use my sinks hot water. But that's as hot as I would go, I guess crow we will see about the problem of fading if they are the same issues. They look fine but time will tell

Water did some weird **** to the dome of one of my McFarlane dog aliens. I no longer trust water not to cause some unexpected reaction with my figures. Hate using the hair dryer though. They're loud and slower to get the job done.

Oh ok, yes they have been breaking straight out of the packaging. Like what I have heard about the Hot Toys Blue Aliens Warrior. But might be worth it as they are as expensive as Hot Toys and would be good figures to build a diorama with.

Would they be more expensive on ebay? Usualy most statues and figures on ebay sell or more than the original Sideshow prices.

I would wait to see a lot on ebay local, i dont think everyone is going keep them.

As for the hot water thing and dis colouration, have you thought about trying to wrap the figure in cling film or saran wrap before putting it in water?

To prevent figure discoloration you need to get some distilled water from the store and boil that water. The discoloration comes from minerals in tap or drinking water they make the colors fade, it's like adding a dot of white paint to all the colors on the figure.

Also never use a hair dryer on hard plastic like the aliens dome or the plastic Neca uses for the Predator throwing disc or wrist blades the heat makes them shrink and warp. Always pull that stuff off the figure if you use this method.

I usually put the piece I'm trying to heat up in a plastic baggie before dipping it in the hot water. It still gets heated up, but never actually gets wet. So far so good. YMMV

I just got a defective alien, I see the problem . It's looks fused at the leg, and very warped. I didn't make it move and it stands good but if I force it , it will break . Sad
