It's all about the Benjamins though. Invisible Man and Phantom are said to have sold less than the other 6. That's the rumor anyway. I think they are getting Remco style releases because the packaging is retro.

I see, big shame that. I think, over the years, the Unholy Trinity have had so many reboots, remakes and what have you that they've stayed at the top. When was the last decent remake of Phantom done? All they think of now is bloody Andrew Lloyd Webber! The Invisible Man is, well, less visible now!

Finally decided to get in on the fun and bought a B&W Lugosi at a local shop, and what a great figure it is!
Funnily enough I'm more blown away by how nice the cape is than anything else. It just drapes so well at such a small scale, simply amazing. I think I'll try to get more of these in B&W, they just look cooler.

While I am not a fan of SSE color scheme, occasionally there are some that change my mind. Rainman's Psycho set is well done, and NECA's black and white Wolfman actually looks nicer in the face paint area. So I like it too.

SDCC this week/weekend, as most of us know. NECA apparently isn't done with Universal. There's an Ardeth Bey and Invisible Man in bath robe ultimate figure. In Hammer news, Peter Cushing Van Helsing is shown

Well, finally got around to getting Frankenstein's Monster and the Wolfman to accompany Lugosi's Dracula.
It's so satisfying to have the three kings in B&W on my shelf. Amazing figures by NECA.

These three look so perfect together that it seems almost wasteful to buy more, although the Bride and the Mummy are very tempting.
I really wanted Nosferatu, but I was disappointed seeing the figure in hand. Maybe the B&W will look better.

Perhaps it is my overly analytical approach to things, but I cannot help but wonder something. I wonder if Universal is imposing new definitions/ limitations as to which characters are currently included in specific licensing packages. Seeing as we already have an Invisible Man entry and a version of the Karloff Mummy, why re-approach them before moving to other Universal Monster who have nothing yet in the series? Could it be that the licensing is limited to specific films in the package now, and to move forward, say to "tier 2" that more fees must be paid? Just thinking out loud.

It's odd, but when I think "Universal Monsters", it's Lugosi's Dracula, Karloff's monster and mummy, and Chaney Jr.'s Wolfman... of course there's the Bride, Renfield, Igor and other assorted characters from those three franchises, but that's it. The Invisible Man barely gets in, and the Creature from the Black Lagoon belongs with the 50's crowd in mind.
Nosferatu, Phantom of the Opera and others belong in a different category of silent films as well.
