think that's how the HT figure's was done too. and it looks cool on that multi-$k 12" prototype. dunno how well that will translate to the $15 7" toy though. that armor has a lot of sharp details in it.

edit - i'm gonna go ahead and guess that head will be used for the unmasked closed mouth P2 as well.

I am assuming that as well. And I hope it looks cool man, but try being optimistic about it. Why think negatively before anything is really shown? At least that's how I like to be, I try to never assume the worst at first.

It's an awesome headsculpt, screams "P2!" much more than the open-mouthed version IMO. Now, does this mean the body paint apps on the HT figure were innacurate? I never quite noticed just how much green was on the body.

Great prototype, either way. Dunno if that'll translate to the final product, but hey, yet another reason to crank these baddies out in 1/4 scale! :lol :rock :monkey3

Are you shocked? I just look at the other Predators, like P2.

I think that NECA will knock these out of the park, I say that because the larger figures seem nice and these probably will be better than what we got before but worse than the 1/4 Predator.

Good point. Can't say I'm surprised, but you'd think by the time Lost came out, HT was better at painting stuff.

Like you, I have high hopes as well. That 7" Elder can't go on sale soon enough. Really excited to see how they did on him.

Hey, just a quick question for anyone else who owns the series 2 cracked mask Classic Predator; for the open palm right hand, is your figure's hand yellow skin tone painted on, or is the actual unpainted plastic the yellow tone (like on the open left hand) and just the brown areas are painted on?

I ask because I was looking at my figure today, and just noticed that the open right hand has the yellow palm and finger skin tones as a paint app, in contrast to the left hand, which uses just the unpainted yellow plastic for the coloration of the palm and finger undersides. Seems weird the open left and closed right hands would be that way with no yellow paint, and the open right hand would have the yellow paint apps...

it does mean that. HT got some parts of the armor wrong too. par for the course. i can't tell if they're lazy about finding good reference pics, or if they have those and they're just lazy about everything else.

mine looks like unpainted plastic with brown wash. keep in mind it's from the older factory, so there isn't gonna be much consistency with the paint apps.

I know I keep mentioning that all the Preds should be done in 1/4:lol but this is screaming out for the 1/4 treatment.:yess:The colours are great.

I really hope the 1/4 classic will sell well and than we can get P2 and if this baby will sell like hot cake too than I am sure Elder will be the next. Oh and I want this Lost fella in 1/4 too!

"Reference? We don't need no stinking reference!!" - Hot Toys

They will be as arrogant as they want to be when sculpting their version of a Predator because people will still buy the product, no matter how it looks.

yep, pretty much their attitude. my heart sank when that pic of the Classic proto had the Cinemaquette and the Billiken pred kit next to it. they're not even trying.

exactly why i haven't bought any recent HT preds. luckily, NECA is pretty much the ONLY company to make a concerted effort to make every pred and make them as accurate as possible. so they get my $$ and HT doesn't.
That's not a pic of the Borg in 1:4 scale...that's just a 12 inch prototype for the 7 inch figure.
EVERY SINGLE TIME pics of a prototype get posted on this board, there's always somebody who says "yaaay! big figure!":lol

never fails. kinda surprising how many collectors don't know what a prototype or "two-up" is. maybe it should be a "sticky" topic.

This is why NECA needs to start doing 1/6 figures. They've got the sculpts and the right attitude when it comes trying to deliver on the sculpt and details. I'm sure they could find a factory that is able to take them to the next level.

I agree with everyone one of these comments...especially the last one. :rotfl
