House of Cards, the Marvel stuff, Stranger Things, and Narcos are all really good from what I've seen. Lots of folks love Orange is the new Black, though I haven't watched much of it.

I guess ive seen most of them... :/

Loved narcos, stranger things is amazing, orange is the new black is funny and cool to watch, daredevil is great

Never seen house of cards and luke cage and jesdica jones look crappy....

How are the netflix anime shows?

So I guess we can expect 5 episodes of the best TV anyone has ever seen before he loses interest and jumps to something else temporarily.

Until he randomly picks it back up, 5 years later, promising 2 new seasons, but ending up writting just 3 episodes*.

*With a break of 6 months between each one of them.

This looks very promising from the teaser at least. Very Symphony Of The Night vibe I get from this.

And make no mistake that def is Alucard they are teasing rising from the coffin.

I bet you have to go to the far corner of your room and toss holy water on the wall and then the netflix Castlevania toon will suddenly start playing.

Meh, just another modern washed out lookin' anime.
Better off re-watchin' "Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust".

It's pretty good! It does start out a little slow but the climax for the "end" is great! Given the lack of Castlevania media out there (other than mostly just the video games), it's great to see something that follows the series' tone, doesn't shy from violence, and even tracks the Castlevania lore!

Essentially, it's a blend of Symphony of the Night with Castlevania 3: Dracula's Curse. Which makes perfect sense given Alucard's presence in both those games. They drop little nuggets like how the Belmont Clan is shunned and despised because it's thought they were practitioners of black magic (which is accurate to Castlevania lore as this is the way the clan was viewed during Trevor's time as the wielder of the Vampire Killer and prior to becoming famous by killing Dracula).

Loved the introduction - which is essentially pulled from Symphony of the Night. It paints Dracula in a semi-tragic light...a man struggling with his darkness who eventually gives way to love and light only for it to be taken from him.

Trevor is gruff, he has a scar down his eye which we've seen the "Castlevania: Curse of Darkness" Trevor have. He's kind of a wanderer and a slight drunk, but once he fights, he's unbelievable. Animation is pretty fluid and the fights are easy to follow. It's not the best, but it's certainly not the worse.

Sypha's introduction is also "accurate" to the game. She was initially frozen in stone and you (as Trevor) had to kill a Cyclops boss to free her. Her gender was also ambiguous in Dracula's Curse (at first depicted as a "he") and it wasn't cleared up by Konami until later games that Sypha was actually female. Trevor comments in the series about how she had her hair cut to look like a man.

Same with Alucard. He does duel Trevor in Dracula's Curse..once again, following the video game lore. Looks accurate to the SotN game and even uses his "shadow dash" move. In the end, we see him grab his trademark coat and join the team.

If you love Castlevania, you'll like this series. I was extremely happy to hear some of the tidbits of lore mentioned above...which means they're not only following the basic premise of the story, but also some of the character history as well.

I wonder if Grant Danasty will pop up?

Netflix did their stupid "half-season" with this, so there's only four episodes right now...apparently they just ordered 8 more...so it's not a "full" seasons. They call the next episodes "Season 2", but it's really going to be the full season.

Pretty **** IMO. It was really just Ellis at his worst writting a prologue. As someone who's never played a Castlevania game and has no attachment to the franchise, this was a waste of time. The visuals were nice and the hyper-violence in one or two scenes was enjoyable, but... eh.

Seems that way doesn't it? But not netflix gets to know the joy of working with Warren Ellis. The Warren Ellis who gets bored quickly and stops working on a project. The Warren Ellis who can't hit a deadline. Should be interesting to see how this working relationship goes. Lol
