I will say the stuff I've gotten from noble is very good. Now, so they have hits and misses? Sure but I'd say based on what I have they make some really nice products. The mini-statue line from Weta isn't done either. Someone in S&F said Arwen is the most likely next character. As I said earlier Middle-earth based items tend to be polystone and that I think takes a bit longer than action figures. While its not 10-12 years ago what we are getting is a decent flow of good stuff. It's just the pace that's different.

I think Tolkien collecting has a more divided fan base because the dual emphases on film and literary aspects of the universe.

I'm sure that plays into it somewhat but honestly there are few companies out there making what would be considered "book" based collectibles.

It could be the fantasy element that makes fans gravitate to things like statues but I'd never in my life buy a statue and be satisfied with a LOtR statue and no figures.

It's kind of the same thing with James bond, the crappybsideshow offerings are sub par. Bit with bond the problem is the studio does not want to lisence product, other than books and crappy die cast cars

Indefinitely feel like LOtR fans get the shaft when it comes to collectsbles. How can they not sell? Nearly everyone likes these movies.

I think the stuff sells well enough. The thing is the bandwagon fans or people who like it, but maybe not enough to buy isn't nearly as high as it was 10-12 years ago. There are other factors like the economy isn't as strong and prices have gone up as well. So its kind of a mixed bag of reasons.

Little bump and a little dilemma. I know the supposed release date and the first figure being released from an e-mail response from Asmus. First figure is supposed to be in factory right now for release in June. The dilemma is I asked if I could share this info with 1/6th groups I belong to. The response I got was

"Ok... if you want to share, maybe not in public? Actually we're gonna announce in 1 or 2 months :)"

Reading that response am I expected to keep it to myself or can I share the info? I know what the response collecters want will be, but what should I do?

If you're gonna tease that you know something its best to share or just not tease at all.

Are you telling us you know which figure is first? I'm really curious about the price point and the quality.

And also if it's a new character too. We've had Aragorn done three times by three different companies now (the Sideshow, Dragon, and the unofficial ROTK version), so I'd love it if it were something new. Saruman? Gimli? Pippin? Merry? Theoden? Gandalf the White? All would be good choices in my book at least.

At least we have a potential release date now, though June is a lot sooner than I had imagined. Not that i'm complaining of course!

Dragon did a figure of Aragorn?
