Congrats on the awesome kit, SilentSurfer and thanks for the great pics. Looking forward to see your paint up on this guy. :D

They didn't miss it - it's just not on the sculpture Giger created - he didn't seem to miss them enough to reinclude them in the sculpt either...there are the 3 dots discs that are in their stead...

Right - I've been scouring my books and have seen some images with the spikes and some without. My 1:1 HCG has them, but I know that it's from a suit. My guess is that the museum piece doesn't have them.

This one, right?

Right - the Museum piece doesn't -- I don't know if that was always the case - I don't know if Giger sculpted it that way originally or if it was removed lost etc...but it seems to have details there in lieu of the spikes...

The Marmit made new long pointy ones - like the Sega/xplus ones.
The Marmit also has the missing shoulder detail on one of the shoulders as the statue does.

I'm just glad it's the most Gigeresque of all licensed Aliens on the Market!!

My faves are the following:

Sano Statues
Marmit vinyl and Statue style b Stoop
Kenner figure / Tsukuda vinyl figure
Xplus metal / Sega vinyl
Medicom
Palisades plaque (for the pose)
Neca
Cinemaquette
SS maquette
HCG 1/2 HR Giger signature edition Alien Head

--I really wish Kenner completed the Signature figure line with the prototype of the Giger Alien --- there's something about a well-made mass produced toy I love like the resurrection figures by Kenner....

oh ok, now I see where they got their reference material to sculpt this from, so out of all of them, which is more movie accurate? It's obviously not this and the SS one seems to be a mixture of both the suit and movie. Is there more then one suit in existance still?

I think The most movie accurate for the bolaji hero suit wouldbe the museum sculpture with elbow spikes and peeling skin...and wrist stripes

well I can't afford a statue that's sitting in a museum. Besides the small dip in the dome, it seems as the CM is the closest there is unless there's another piece that is more accurate that I'm not aware of?? :dunno

can't wait or this magnificent piece to arrive :yess:

January oh yeah just around the corner ... :yess:

My Alien kit has landed. I have examined the parts and measured it up, and I totally concur with the last two posts, except I think it's larger than the HT 1/6 Aliens, but it's not even as big as the NECA Predator.

Detail is absolutely amazing though. The arms also fit in the sockets reachign straight forward, with is kinda cool. That means customizing the arm pose is going to be easy should I decide to do it.

Congrads silentsurfer , nice and quick delivery :clap and thanks for posting pics

The CM statue had by far the least accurate dome imo, it had this horrible bulged hump in the middle ... it was horrible. This sano piece is the most accurate statue, give or take a elbow spike or two you'll get at the moment ...

January .... :impatient:

Oh ...... U mean which of the collectibles is.most accurate....i say its a tossup between Sano and cinemaquette....

Sano is intentionally accurate to gigers work.....i mean consciously. Down to the missing spikes..sano has the proportions correct in tetms of what actually exists.

The marmit is a close second to the sano, but includes inaccurately shaped elbow spikes and tbe dome's misshapen. However has the uneven shoulder detail that even the sano ignores.

The cinemaquette is sculpted by an artist who has worked many times on gigers personal projects and so knows his sensibilities intetms of his style generally speaking of course n has the screen accurate elbow spikes...but alas the, head is bulbous and though the face is nice, the head is fat and chunky, instead of smooth and tapering

giger himself liked the kenner alien because the proportions where decent and had some nice consistent detail....at some point, it appears that the midsection was sculpted by someone else as it appears choppy and inconsistent with the rest of the details...

Personally I like the sano, followed by the cm and marmit...the neca is almost there, but the head is way off in terms of silhouette and dome shape ....n I wish the articulation was more even, like the new neca predators

Sano > Marmit > then the rest, I agree with your points on the neca figure. great piece but just not fully there. the one statue that always makes me sad and cross by the sculpt is the plasiades alien statue, they did one of the BEST warrior statues ever to come come ( great accurate sculpt with accurate paint app ) but the alien plasiades statue was just so horribly done esp the the awkward angle of the head and the totally wrong feet shape imo, don't get me wrong the statue itself is well done just those few points I mentioned earlier always got to me ... :gah:

Yup....the plaque they did seemed better, but oys the same sculptor, and though he s skilled, not a great representation...the weirdly shaped feet, grainy texture, weirdly shaped pipes, but I might have top get this just to complete my collection of giger style aliens...we'll see if I can get out for cheap!

Agreed ... I def want to also get it for a good price of course. one can never have to many giger style aliens in ones collection ...

Hey guys,
please excuse my ignorance as i can't be bothered reading
back through the thread but is this statue sold for $800 as
a unpainted model kit???? Thanks in advance..

My understanding is that the Palisades Signature statue was done in a very rushed fashion by SOTA. It's a neat sculpt, just far from accurate. Basically, it was cast off an early proof-of-concept sculpture and never meant to go into production. It's sad because their Warrior is about as accurate as the larger, more expensive SS maquette.

I was asking which was more true to what was seen on screen. I agree the Sano is more accurate then prolly everything, but the hands are off. I guess as far as accuracy goes, I would put Sano over everything, but when it comes to the best collectible, considering the size and the price of the Sano, it would prolly be number 2 or 3 for me. If the SS one had movie accurate hands, it would prolly be up there for me.

the kit is sold out, but the finished ones are still available. The special edition is like $1400+ shipping, that's insane for a 1/6.5 piece imo.

As far as I'm concerned, the sculpture at Giger's Museum (i.e. the piece this statue/kit reproduces) should be the starting point for any figure/statue that wants to represent the alien on screen, but clearly not the end-all be-all.
The suit when worn had slight differences, like the fused fingers, the bands around the wrists, the spikes on the elbows, etc... and I do like the on-screen look better, with fused fingers and so on.
Also, I think you'd have to take into account the mechanical Rambaldi head, which had the tendons and translucent lips, to make the "ultimate" alien (as seen on screen) figure.
To me this Sano statue is the ultimate reproduction of the original sculpture, which is pretty frigging awesome in its own right.

Hope to see lots of pics when you guys start getting this.
