Replicant = Robot

According to the book of Eakins, Replicant = Android. For the record, though Ash is called a robot in Alien, I still say android. He might have prefered the term "artificial person" himself though.

If it doesn't look or act like a robot, then I'm not watching a robot, no matter how good the story around it is. In fact, that was kinda the point of that movie, that they were more human than anything.

Well the fix usually comes on Monday after I've worked on it on Sunday. I had company over all day today though, so I'm not sure how much work I can put into it tonight. I hope to get the basic body coloring down though.

anybody know if this guy is still available for purchase? and if so where I could get him. Really want to add a definitive Giger Alien to My collection.
:)

the normal version is still available-- all statues are painted by Sano -- special and normal...

This Roswell Statue (any version) is the one to get -- the SS maquette is not sculpted with nearly as great a care -- the ribs alone are accurately shaped vs the rolled blobs on the SS statue (I have it - not happy about the rib details, but it has other nicely sculpted qualities that still make a purchase worth it, like the nice texture on the ribbed muscles, the overall shape and balance of the pose)...-

it's astonishing really how much effort was put into the Roswell statue...and the neutral pose can be a very powerful statement in terms of the aesthetic of the pure alien

Will someone buy this for me :(

When there's something I really want, and it's out of my budget -- I take it out of the collection ---start scouring for things to let go of, to make room something else ... Maybe you have something pretty valuable you no longer want to keep ?

I hate doing that, eventually you run out of things your willing to get rid of.

Yeah - it's a tough wall to hit ... but it's the only way to have had everything you've ever wanted (when you're not filthy rich)-- at one point or another...I've only ever regreted selling two or three items, but for the most part I realize I have limited space and it's better to be able to let go of things -- because ultimately they're just things...

That said, I always keep a mental list of things that I call "neversells"
The Yoshihiko Sano sculpture is definitely on that list...these are items that I've never forgotten that I've had in the collection-- these are things that would, for the most part almost be impossible to replace either due to scarcity or incredibly high appreciation.

The sculpting of elements are so precise that it feels organic -- er, I should say biomechanical...

I'll have to agree. No one else has captured the Giger sculpture like Sano. As good as the Gore group is, they went a little soft on their Chap.

I don't think anyone should go soft on their Chap...
especially when it's a Big Chap.

anyone know what the two different prices are beside one another? I can't translate the page and it says to the right of the normal version (at the very bottom of the page) that it costs 88,000 yen but then beside that it has a different, slightly lower price of 74,800? why two dfferent price points?

Btw demorathis, I completely agree about the neutral pose. I think there is something extremely disconcerting and ominous about the still pose of the sano statue. want this piece so bad for my collection as the center piece but have never ordered from roswell before and am unsure of how they work.

I actually ordered from hobby search....but I have ordered my custom case for the alien from roswell....petty easy....just email them yumiko is the contact person usually and just tell her...i think....that youd like to order....and they.ll fulfill it....their shipping is faaaast and they mark everything fragile....and they pack pretty well

I would actually sell my SS Aliens maquette and SS Alien maquette to be able to secure the funds for this one, but alas, I know the process would be to cumbersome to go through and hope a great piece arrived safe and sound. So for now, I will hold onto the two SS pieces...

Thanks so much for the help guys! It's great that people help each other out in this hobby to this degree. Demorathis do you have roswell's email at all so I can contact Yumiko to find out all the details?
Thanks man.

This statue just screams Giger and the first alien. I've seen the cinemaquette in person and it blew me away at the time. Love that sculpt too. I also like the sideshow maquette and can see alot of similarities between it and the Sano (and some differences) but I just want to lock down one amazing giger alien for my collection and have it be the centerpiece. maybe frame the infamous original poster behind the collectible and hang it on the wall.
