Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Lucky you, after seeing 10 in person do you feel it could do with a tad longer neck and perhaps have a sculpted neck instead? That is the one of the things I don't like so much about the figure going by the pictures.

What was the weeping angel like up close?

Calcifer when i met with them on Tuesday i mentioned the neck and they are aware of this and are continuing to try and improve there figures.
The Weeping Angel is going to be more of a 1/6 scale diorama/enviroment than a 1/6 figure it sounded very cool.

DGTWoodward What did you think of the new packaging? Its great that 10 gets the classic Who logo treatment. What was your opinion on the new stands with the lights in?

I like the stands very much. If they can get that blue light to diffuse more evenly as they hope, it will look really cool and effective.

I'm surprised there isn't more support for the 7th Doctor. He's at the bottom of my personal list, but he always seemed to me to have a lot of dedicated followers. Even though I don't care much for him or his era, a figure could be cool, especially if there's an optional TV movie head.

I wonder if Big Chief had any luck in getting permission to produce a Rose Tyler? Does Billie Piper have the rights, or the BBC? :dunno

I don't think it's that so much, as far as I can see, Billie just does not like the idea of action figures of her.

She's spoken a few places (such as here) about how having an action figure is a big responsibility. She's worried kids will confuse her and the character, which is why the original 5" action figure has "Rose" written on the back. Personally I think the whole thing is silly. :cuckoo:

As for rights, Piper would have to approve the figure's likeness, so if she doesn't want it, a figure isn't going to happen.

Good grief, is her ego really that fragile? Don't most actors crave a part that makes them a household name fo adults and children alike?

And besides, kids are kids, that's the wonder of childhood, you are allowed to believe such stuff.

Better that they identify her as ROSE the intergalactic traveller, rather than BELLE the expensive prostitute.

I like to imagine that Rose changed her name to Belle after the Doctor left her to go explore the universe again....

The problem with Sly is that he shares a similar stigma to Colin in that his TV run is deemed poor by many fans and critics which makes them a much trickier sell when it comes to merchandise.

Like Colin he's shown what he can do when given decent material in the Big Finish audios but they're something only dedicated fans are aware of so the general mainstream perception will still be that they were both crap which does both a huge disservice.

Even Character Options seem to be reluctant to release much from the mid-late 80's and their products are relatively cheap in comparison to Big Chief's so a high end 1:6 figure is a much trickier prospect.

I hope both are made as I'd like a complete set of the original 8 Doctors, a companion for each and some monsters from those eras as well.

Thanks for the pics! 10th looks great. Agree that the suit could fall better, and the pin stripes are a little too thick and too bright. Hopefully those will be fixed since the head sculpt and paint are fantastic!

I wish Character Options still was making 12" versions. While some may think them worthless, they would make great filler or background characters and their doctors could easily convert to gangers. I don't see BCS making any Judoon any time soon. Nor any clockwork people, sisters of Plentitude, Ood..... I know I am glad I have them in my Who collection.

The modern series isn't my area of intrest so it's not something that bothers me personally but you do have a point as some of their 1:6 figures were very nicely done especially the Judoon & Ood.

Are these the stands pictured with the 4 and 10 Docs? if they are, I need one to replace the Tardis floor one that came with 11, they look so much better.

I only have the CO 12" Cyberleader, and his articulation is just okay. Do the other figures in the range have better articulation? I'm looking at the Judoon Captain in particular.

OMG I Googled it as well to remind myself and someone else had done a comparison shot... I'm not alone. I entered 'bingo banana splits' and this was the 7th pic!
