Well this is a failure, really. On a quick note, why would they wait until today, ordering day, to launch the new site? It'd be better to do it ahead of time and work out the bugs then.

Inexperience? Faith in the wrong people? Blind optimism?

It's not a good look though, particularly when trying to launch a brand new high end/high cost product line...

It's critical.

Not only is this a product launch for a brand new player in the market, trying to get enough customers to support a high end niche collectible, but customers also need to feel like they can have faith that their financial details will be safe and secure, and that the pre-order charging process will all go according to plan.

When they can't even get the site online properly at a time of their own choosing, that doesn't exactly instill confidence in the very people they are trying to attract a financial committment out of...
