Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

How the heck long does it take to work on a body? I mean honestly! Next year is crap.

I have to agree. There are an abundance of female bodies on the market, so they can't be that difficult. Some are stunning, and almost photo realstic, and don't cost much in their own right.
I think something else is the issue. I mean, they had a prototype on a body... Why not just use those?

When a big company like Sideshow produced their own body, the Prometheus, the first figure to have it - Sideshow Indy - turned out to be almost unusable. It was floppy as hell and couldn't hold a pose. I had to pay a load of money to replace it with a truetype.

Three guys working on their first figure produced a figure for 11 that stood up to most other bodies afaik (although I'm not an expert on bodies anymore) and can be posed (and holds a pose) beautifully.

What do you want to do - wait a bit longer or get irritated earlier? Don't forget they're building a business and need a reputation for quality more than they need a reputation for speed.

I know some people hate the idea of Amy being cancelled - but how about if BC released her in pieces as a series of expansion packs? so head, clothes etc and they could sell the signatures separately; people could buy their own bodies or wait until the female BC body is available.. I could just see amy being a real drag on them because the character is never going to sell 2000 pieces (no companion would apart from K-9, possibly Rose or a 'current' companion at the height of their popularity).

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

I have no problem waiting for Amy, I'd rather have them do it right, then produce something substandard we're all going to complain about for the next year. I doubt she'll be forgotten quickly, she's been such a big part of the 11th's story arc, just like Rose was to 10.

I think most people don't mind waiting until they've perfected the Amy figure and it's ready for release whenever that might be. Why the heck should anyone want to buy an Amy head or any outfits for her as long as there's no body available to put it on? I bet if they were working on a Rose you wouldn't want it to be cancelled...

I still want Amy as she's my favourite companion, actually I want her especially now that she's no longer on the show, for nostalgic reasons.

Amen to that.
And, of course, if BC gave an actual release date now what are the chances of that actually being hit? This is the Action Figure world afterall where not even the big guys can keep to their promised dates. It would just be another brickbat to unfairly whack a new and decent company with. Besides, after talking to BC at the NEC Toy Fair - as others have said they're great folk really dedicated to this line - the other week they do hope (talks with agents etc. permitting) to use their female body at least twice more so best to not only get it right, but to be seen to be getting it right too.

Great point. And actually, I really like Amy, probaby more than Rose, I just can't see her being an easy sell so I was just suggesting the head-in-a-pack idea as a way of getting her out IF the figure is cancelled... and there's no evidence at all that there will be it's just me speculating. I'm sure we'll see her.

As long as the 4th Doctor figure makes it to market, that's all I care about. I can't survive the heartbreak of another canceled 1/6 Tom. :monkey2

Yeah. Not a second time. I was so disappointed when the Product Enterprises 1/6 never came out.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

I want a 1/6 Patrick Troughton like you wouldn't believe, with recorder, sonic screwdriver, hat and diary... that would just make my decade, that and Sherlock.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

Yeah. Not a second time. I was so disappointed when the Product Enterprises 1/6 never came out.

It was very good for its time, there was also a Cyberman coming out from them too.I saw them a couple of times when they were shown at the Spring Gift Fair at the NEC.The Carry On figures they had prototypes of were realy nice too and it was a shame that there Peter Cushing Van herlsing never saw the light of day.If i remember correctly they had a protoype of a 1/6 astronaut girl, i think they ended up making a statue out of her.

Re: New Doctor Who 1:6 and 1:4 from Big Chief Studios!

The longer they wait the more harm it will do to sales. People have already started to forget about Amy's character.

I do think this is true for many people. I'm having trouble pulling the trigger on a Rory figure now that one is finally out in the 5" range, because his story is over. Of course classic companions have appeal, maybe because they have a nice vintage on them, like a bottle of wine. So really, BC should wait a few years and then put out Amy, when we're all nostalgic for her. :nana:

Still can't believe how great a job Big Chief Studios have done on this there first figure.Hope it's not too long until we see Tenth and my favourite Doctor Who Tom baker.

I've got the Sixteen12 1/6 scale Tom Baker statue, which I like an awful lot, so he's probably the Doctor I'm hanging out for the least right now, but I'll happily buy him as soon as he hits all the same.
