Technically if you actually read comics, Cable was not solely created by Rob Liefeld. Louise Simonson had a hand in creation of Cable. However, Rob's ego or lack of creativity would insist he soley created Cable.

Ok I do know he had a big ego and McFarlane kicked him off the image family otherwise silvestri was going to leave because of liefeld. I know that's how he created extreme studios! See you all I know so much about the comics in the 90s!!! :hi5: I would be shocked if cable was not his creation and would be disappointed too. But I still believe it's under his name hopefully.

Cable was co-created by Louise Simonson. Without her, there would be no Cable period! Rob just steals or uses influence of other characters to make it his own.

Hmmm so is her name official that she help co create cable? Is it like Stan lee sitting down next to liefeld in that video of the masters of comics, then when liefeld draws. Stan says let's add spikes and then claims it part of his creation? I don't think something like that counts unless she really came up with the big ideas for the character. But really if liefeld didn't create cable I really would be upset. I'm guessing maybe he created cable while he was in marvel. So of course marvel wanted some credit for all their characters.

Why don't you google her name. She was a writer who worked with Rob on Cable. That is why they are called co-creators. So now you know RL is not the one & only creator of Cable, you can now stop with Rob Liefeld is the greatest artist crap. :wink1:

I don't think I want to look this up. I still believe he created cable, most of him anyways. Majority is the creator. But thanks for the info bro :wave

I really dig ARTGERM's work. His ladies look great. However, nobody can top a female drawn by AH in my book.

Hell no. Artgerm blows AH out of the water. I like how AH draws facial expressions and eyes, but most everything else I think Artgerm does a much better job with.

I just hope the person that handled Scarlet Witch and Vampirella does not do this one as well. No offense to those who love those pieces (and I say this because I know those two PF are really well loved around here) but I just do not like how that sculptor does facial structure on women. I think he did She-Hulk too and it looked really good with her for some reason, but I definitely did not like it with the other two or with Storm. I feel like everything but the face is done really well though so I'll at least commend him on that and that is about 80% of the statue anyway :lol

You tell them about AH! No offense to AH lovers, he does great work. I like some of them as well. But in this case artgerm is king. Wow!

I know Stanley as an acquaintance (he's from Singapore as well), but personally I prefer AH! I think there's a cultural factor involved in comic art appreciation. The manga influences in Stan's art appeals to the Western crowd, while to me, AH!'s characteristic good-girl style appears more exotic and aesthetically pleasing.

Wow, you all are impossible to please. I even admit he has his mistakes inn his art and still not happy? :lol at least his artwork on wolverine is badass. He's always been one of the best wolverine artists. I couldn't find much wrong with him. Those covers liefeld drew with wolvie and domino was so freaking awesome! I'm sure at least you all do like his wolverine right? :clap

Liefeld draws muscles that don't exist, and his proportions are extremely exaggerated. There is a certain charm that his hatch style shading has, as well as how he draws faces, even though they all look like clones of each other, but Liefeld simply lacks development as an artist. He's self taught, but is no Akiane.

I think manga isn't just an influence in Artgerm's work. I think his work IS manga. I too, prefer the classic U.S. pin up style of AH. Frankly, I don't like Artgerm's work enough to buy anything of his or anything influenced by him.

I couldn't disagree with you more. AH is the KING of drawing the female form. Artgerm's artwork has far too much of a manga feel to it. Just not a fan of that style. The reason I do like some of Artgerm's work is because in some of his work he tones down the manga style. Especially in the faces of the females he draws. AH gives us sexy life like renditions of beautiful women. That's what does it fo me. Manga inspired art has always been too cartoony for my tastes. Again, this all boils down to personal tastes and for me personally, no one tops AH when it comes to drawing the female form.

As for Mark Newman (the sculptor who did the Scarlet Witch PF), you do know he also did the Poison Ivy PF right? The same Poison Ivy that is based off the artist you love (Artgerm) and could go down as the sexiest female statue ever made. Even though I don't care for the Scarlet Witch PF myself, I still think Mark is a phenomenal talent and I can't wait to see what else SSC and Mark are working on next.

Bingo! Just saw this post. A perfect way to describe the fundamental difference in both artists styles. I LOVE that AH exotic style! :yess:

I tend to agree that his work is manga. However, it's not manga in a classic sense. The eyes on his females are not as large as most manga artists. That's why I like some of his work. Again I will point out his Poison Ivy as a great example of a beautifully drawn woman. She looks fantastic. Also, Mark Newman did an incredible job of bringing that artwork to 3D form. Kudos all around on the Poison Ivy PF. I can't wait to get my EX shortly from SSC.

every time I see an AH! smiling female portrait, I feel this inside...

Wow thanks for the great info! I don't like AH personally myself. But I love artgerm's work. Until someone posted his Emma frost artwork I never knew he existed. So ivy was base off his work? Mark sculpted this? Wow this makes me much more excited to get this now. Will we get an ivy print? I saw that ivy artwork and it's amazing. I hope they do more statues base on his work. I still don't see any manga in his work. His work is so exciting! Great sexy poses and the faces looks pretty. I'm a huge fan now of his work. I better google him now. Can't wait to see what else he's done.
On a side note why does it seem like so many amricans are ok with manga but then gets offended when they use the art style on American superheroes? I see on YouTube any Japanese made version animated series like iron man, x men, etc. The comments were crazy. Many felt that the Japanese art should never be used on the american comic superheroes. Even all the 80s toons thundercats, gijoe, voltron, are all Japanese artists. I think its very cool! But I see a lot of haters out there. Why? :dunno
