You could definitely tell Ruffalo's Banner was a continuation of Norton's, the way he makes himself change in the end reminds me of the end of TIH where Norton is training himself to control Hulk.

They need to make the Absorbing man his enemy for this movie...In the comics Crusher Creel was given his powers by Loki.. This would all tie in perfectly with their movie universe.

^^ I could go for that.

Really? Wasn't that pretty much exactly what Ang Lee's film was for the most part and also the first half of the 2008 one? I think the 'on the run from the military' stuff is done. Getting a proper powerful villain like the Abomination was badly needed and I thought it was a great fight in that film.

I don't know what other villains are in the Hulk catalogue but the military stuff is done, we've seen it twice.

:exactly: Part of the reason why the Ang lee's Hulk was so bad imo was the lack of a villain until the last two minutes lol.

With a estimated date so far out and Hulk potentially making cameos in the other Marvel movies do you guys think this stand alone movie could be planet hulk story? With events happening in other movies give or take Hulk causing so much destruction in those movies that Tony Stark and the rest of the crew decide to send him off planet

I'm glad to see at least that they're looking into Hulk for another solo movie. My only worry, as a Hulk fan, is that solo Hulk films will never take off, he doesn't seem like a character whose films can really deliver what audiences want, he's not Iron Man or anything. Maybe they'll draw from what works in Avengers and build on it, would be nice. I thought the 2008 movie was great but apparently Marvel disagreed, though against Iron Man and The Dark Knight, how great could it do.

Go back to your Batman or Rambo avatar, fairweather Hulk fan. :lecture:lecture:lecture :exactly:

Bottom line: Hulk hasn't been handled right. The proper way to do a Hulk movie is have a huge battle continuing throughout the length of the movie, from the opening scene to the credits, with Hulk battling one of his bigger enemies. Tell the "origin" in the opening credits crawl and what led up to the battle through flashbacks. Hulk is all about the smashing and in the other flicks they've been too focused on Banner and his lame "humanity."

Yep. The next Hulk film needs to be 90% Hulk and 10% Banner.

What they really need to do is show the Hulk having arguments with Banner in his mind during the movie and have Banner as a type of ghost.

I think it can be 50/50 with Ruffalo as long as their is a focus. He wasn't purely Hulked out in The Avengers and it worked.

The voiceover influences wouldn't have been a bad idea but now he can control The Hulk it doesn't make that much sense to have the whole power struggle going on. What needs to occur is more along the lines of Banner trying to keep more of himself ala "Smart Hulk" during transformations and move that along.

I'm interested to see what they do with Betty. Ruffalo is 45 right now. Connelly would be a better match than Tyler at this point although I'm sure they'll find someone new.

I would be perfectly good with Marvel shelving all stand-alone Avengers team member movies and concentrating on getting us new awesome Avengers movies faster.

An Avengers movie as great as the first every two years would rock!

The best Hulk comics though are the ones where Hulk is crossing the country, driven to do something while the military/SHIELD/random super #60 is trying to stop him. The whole time during the comic is Banner yelling at Hulk to stop and Hulk explaining why he's doing it. This would make for a completely different film than we've seen and would require much more Hulk screentime.

But you have to admit that the only reason it worked in Avengers is because there were 5 other heroes to focus on while waiting for Hulk. :lol

Norton's was leaning that direction, and it sunk like a meat turd. A Hulk movie needs to be about Hulk, not Banner.

It'd be an interesting move to have him transform and not be able to transform back, I remember that arc in the 90s. The hard part is that a full Hulk movie with just Hulk would be boring as well, they need a good balance between the two to push the story along.

Maybe it's a good idea that Hulk will be contained to cameos for a bit.

This is why I suggested telling the story through flashback scenes. It would break up the continual bombardment (or monotony for the ADD) and you could have it catch up to the last act for maximum destruction and have him switch back to Banner at the very end for a conclusion.
