Terminator 4 - Anton Yelchin = Kyle Reese

Probably old news but I thought I'd post it:

Terminator IV already has Christian Bale on board as John Connor, the leader of the human resistance to the marauding machine rulers of future Earth, and Alpha Dog's Anton Yelchin has just been cast as Kyle Reese, the character played by Michael Biehn in the original film. Unfortunately, Charlie's Angels' McG is still on board to direct.

Should be interesting to see how they play around with the Timeline issues.... usually John was far removed enough from the period of War in the first film that Kyle Reese and John Connor concurrently living wasn't an issue.... I'm wondering how this will be addressed if its even addressed at all.

He was good on Huff, but I don't see him as Kyle Reese at all. And he's playing Chekov in the new Star Trek movie...I don't see him in that role either.

With a 5 O'clock shadow and some heavy scruffing up, I could see him as a young Biehn as far as looks go, don't know what kind of actor he is.

Anton Yelchin ("Charlie Bartlett") is in negotiations to star as the post-apocalyptic warrior Kyle Reese in the upcoming fourth "Terminator" feature says The Hollywood Reporter.

Yelchin will play a teen version of Reese, the character played by Michael Biehn in the 1984 original who traveled back in time to save Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) from being killed.

He ends up fathering her son John Connor who goes on to lead humanity against Skynet's machines and who sent Reese back in time on the mission in the first place.

The new film picks up with John Connor (Christian Bale), now in his 30s, fighting desperately to save a decimated civilization against machines that have taken control. Reese befriends Marcus (Sam Worthington), an early edition of the Terminator cyborg.

McG is helming the project and "Crash" writer/director Paul Haggis has been in talks about doing a polish on the script - much like he did for the Bond films "Casino Royale" and the upcoming "Quantum of Solace."

Production is scheduled to start in early May for release on May 22nd 2009. Yelchin also stars as a younger version of Walter Koening's famed Chekov role in J.J. Abrams reinvention of the "Star Trek" film franchise which opens two weeks earlier on May 8th 2009.

He doesn't look the part, and I've only seen him in one flick and honestly he didn't do much to impress me.

Then you must not have seen any of his other great movies like The Machinist, Rescue Dawn, 3:10 To Yuma, just to name a few. He is a very versatile actor who can adapt any character.
