This is an amazing figure, and certainly the most accurate so far. I just can't see why they picked such a dark brown for the fur though. That one huge inaccuracy is what keeps me from buying this. Otherwise it's pretty perfect.

Yeah, that kinda bugged me at first too. But, once I got this cute bugger in my hands, it no longer bugged me.
Got mine in today too.
Started doing some trimming around his face and ears as the hair was way too long. Also, darkened the nose a bit with some paint and now he looks more screen accurate.
The Neca Grems look fantastic imo, I only got 1 Gizmo but I love it and for the money you cant go wrong, Thinking about getting the flasher Gremlin 
I see hlj is still offering the santa version for $284 although they're currently backordered.
I skimmed through the thread and may have missed this, but exactly how tall is it? I see some sellers on eBay claiming it's 330 mm (over 12"), and others saying it's 230 mm (9"). Can someone give the exact measurements? If it's only 9" tall that seems a little short to be 1:1 (or whatever "prop size" is supposed to mean). How tall was Gizmo in the movie? He looked to be around a foot tall.
For everyone who ordered from hlj, was it a smooth transaction?
I imagine those Japanese eBay sellers are getting them from sites like hlj and then reselling them for 400-500 bucks.

Yep, just to let everyone know the folks at HLJ e-mailed me and said even if it says "Out of stock" you can always order and they will try to get one in. (They don't always restock unless there is a demand for the item, so if you want one you should place an order).
I just received confirmation that they are back in stock and mine has been shipped and is on it's way.
Thanks to the original posters here for sharing a link to their store, much cheaper then going the ebay route.

So did it arrive in good condition? EMS shipping to the US anyway only takes about 6 days. What shipping method did you choose?
I ordered Gizmo right after the last batch shipped, and he has
been on "backorder" ever since... so I have not gotten any update
as to whether or not I am getting one.
If not, I will go without. HLJ's price is about as high as I will go
for it, and that is below retail, lol.

I asked hlj if they know when they'll be getting more in stock:

Manufacturers are good about keeping distributors informed about release dates for new items, but when it comes to their providing restock of an item in their diverse catalogs, we're often left pretty much in the dark. If a restocking month isn't listed on its stock status, then it might be two weeks, two months, or tomorrow. That's unfortunately the nature of hobby distribution here in Japan. We hope to have it back in stock for you soon!

Medicom *usually* release a few batches of their stuff. I imagine this sold well due to the ebay demand, so it's a definite possibility. I hope so anyway!
Well I broke down and got the Santa version from someone off eBay.
OH MY GOD! I swear when you take it out of the package and remove that santa suit, it looks and feels like a living creature. This is DEFINITELY worth $400 if that's what you have to pay for it. Every time I look at it I smile. You can't put a value on that. No collectibe I've ever purchased has made me smile as much as this Gizmo.

Santa version is the better value. as others have said, come Christmas time i can display him all suited up which for me is an added bonus. No need to spend the crazy money on the regular version with less accessories. Congrats again on owning the definitive Gizmo replica!Congrats. It feels sort of like holding a fuzzy kitten. Maybe it's made from cat hair? lol. It weighs around 2 pounds and feels like a solid little chunk when you pick it up. I was surprised that his wrists and feet also swivel. I figured his hands would just go up and down with the arms. The neck has good articulation also.
I decided to stick him back in the box until I can find a permanent dust-free home. Hopefully that will happen soon. I have a shelf in mind but need some sort of cover.
