Can't wait to see what Sideshow does with Spiderman. I truly hate the direction Sideshow is going in with these modernized or whatever you call them versions of my favorite characters. I think the Daredevil is actually kind of decent looking, though I would have definitely bought it without hesitation if it was the original costume. Cap, Batman, Electra are complete crap.

The OG Daredevil was a fail for many reasons. The classic costume was not one of them. When a classic PF fails, it's not because of the costume on it. It usually fails because of a lousy pose, anatomy, or portrait. Now we are getting PFs that are a pass based on over the top sideshowified costumes (Cap) and complete costume failures like Deathstroker. If sideshow would've nailed the OG DD PF, no one would care what sideshow did with this PF.

Good point. A ton of Hulks have been released, but I’m still waiting for “the” Hulk 1/4 scale fully sculpted, non removable head (no seam!!!) to be produced. And let’s face it, Hulk does not have much of a “costume” you can deviate from, so it simply comes down to sculpt quality. For me, all releases so far fall way short of a raging, stop you in your tracks HULK sculpt. XM’s pending transformation Hulk is getting close, we’ll see. But what I would really like to see is Sideshow giving the HULK project to the sculptor (Rafel Grassetti) who worked on their new Wolverine, (along with Martin Canale for guidance). Their collaboration on Wolverine sculpt is stunning, and drool at the thought of them working on “the HULK” project. Again, all down to sculpt quality.

My experience with the charater of Daredevil is comprised of:

1. Frank Miller's "Man Without Fear" miniseries in the early 90's
2. Live-Action character in the final Bill Bixby Hulk show
3. Affleck Movie
4. Netflix series
5. A general awareness of the character since the 70's through other Marvel comics I was reading

I absolutely love #'s 1 and 4. And I also love this new piece. I'm not married to the original design though I've always been aware of it and this new PF just seems to keep the "feel" of the source material that I enjoyed above and it just flat out looks cool IMO.

Damn, you're missing out man. DD has been one of the consistently best written characters since Frank Miller. The Bendis/Maleev run is one of the best superhero runs of all time. The follow up by Brubaker/Lark is almost as good and the Waid/Samnee run is also amazing. The kevin smith/joe quesada "Guardian Devil" run is decent and has a major impact on the character overall. There's so much good DD

the death of elektra arc is awesome. I would recommend that read to any DD fan.

On the flip side, Fall From Grace (the return of Elektra) is one of the worst things I've read.

100% agree. Get a Marvel Unlimited subscription and just go to town on everything listed here. :)

It's Cap and HULK for me. The OG Cap PF was close but the spanks and cheesy cloth on it stopped me from POing it all those years ago. As for HULK, I agree with EVERYTHING you said. I'd even be happy if Canale was given the whole project. I love his take on the HULK.

You're missing the point.. There are no guarantees... Classic or not.

New DD PF - Unhappy because of costume
Old DD PF - Unhappy because of Pose and other reasons.

Either way unhappy.

Not every piece is a home run for everyone.

I get that you feel SSC should have revisited classic DD because you did not like the last one. I will agree that had this piece just been classic it would still kick ass... But it is what it is.

Here is an example of someone who agrees with you..

See.. There have been many Hulks released.. But he still has not been happy with what has been released.

So this DD could have been another classic costume.. But the sculpt could have been another fail for you.

People on the FB groups love all these new costume pfs so that’s probably the current base customer for Sideshow.

You're missing my point. As a long time classic collector, I want at least one kick ass looking classic PF of the characters I want in my collection. After sideshow successfully accomplishes this, they can release any character they want wearing a tutu for all I care. The OG DD PF was a failure. Sideshow knew this. How, you ask? Simple, the total ES on the 1st ever 1/4 licensed DD statue was 1000 units. That combined with the complaints on the forums clearly showed that the OG DD PF didn't cut it. So, fix the mistake then. After that, they can release a DD in a pink costume if they want. No statue is going to be a guaranteed success when it goes up for PO. However, sideshow will know when they hit or miss with a PF based on demand and feedback.

Possibly. I'm not on Facebook so I can't say. What I do know is that sideshow built its business on classic PFs and the customers who bought them. Now those loyal customers who spent thousands on classic Marvel and DC PFs are being tossed under the bus with this new modernization movement.

There's more people collecting these and interested in them than just the people on this forum. Sideshow just cant rehash "classic" PFs every few years for loyal customers without doing new things to attract new customers. It is what it is... voicing your opinions endlessly is one thing, vote with your wallet.

What's a fail to you isn't to others no matter how much you want to think that it's the norm on this forum.

It's getting somewhat tiring reading the same thing over and over again in those threads which have the so called Sideshowified costumes.

I get that certain people don't like them at all, but what's the point in posting post after post stating your hatred of the piece. A couple to a few is perfectly fine, but not when it's pages of the same thing in multiple threads :dunno

I'm sure there are people who like this Daredevil piece, but with comment after comment showing your dissatisfaction with the piece, I'm thinking of totally avoiding certain threads on this forum, and I'm sure others are probably doing the same.

The only thing people can do is vote with your wallet, and just don't buy the piece. As I don't think Sideshow cares what people on this board think; as long as they can sell enough pieces.

Sideshow is a business. As harsh as it sound they don’t owe “classic collectors” squat. They will not release classic after classic until ALL classic collectors are satisfied.

Same thing with finishing a line. I mean unless they straight out say what the 8 characters are that they will be releasing in a certain line we cant blame them if our fav character doesn’t make the cut.

I can understand disappointment but damn. The day I get mad or angry at a piece, ss or the artist then Ill look for another hobby[emoji15]

I do both. Vote with my wallet and voice my opinion. If anyone has a problem with that, there's an ignore feature on this forum.

You're right. A collector who bought the Thing PF a decade ago has no right to ask Sideshow to complete the Fantastic Four. Why would someone who bought Iron Man (classic COM), Thor (OG PF), HULK (OG PF), and Cap (OG PF) want to buy a classic Ant Man or Wasp PF? So what if they are founding members of the Avengers? What the hell does a collector need a LEE white Storm PF for? She's obviously not important to any X-MEN lineup. As for peeps that bought the Gamora, Angela, and Rocket/Groots PFs....WTF would they need a Star Lord PF for? Yeah, we should all just be quiet little mice and suck up whatever Sideshow deems fit to bless us with.

As for being mad with Sideshow's artists...not a chance. They are artists, and artists by nature push the envelope and are creative people. I lay sideshowification where it belongs..at the feet of Igo and upper management and their desire to chase XM's art direction instead of sticking with their own.

Was just my 2 cents. Im not here to offend anyone.

Fact remains its never a guarantee with sideshow. I didn’t bother with the gotg PFs cuz i wanted to be 100% certain star lord would be a part of it. Good thing i stayed away from that. I went will the avengers assemble line cuz at least that line they showed us what we can expect. For me anything after that is a bonus. I will only get wasp IF they announce an ant man. If not so be it. Happy with the main 4. As for the new xmen line. POd wolverine knowing damn well it might just stay at wolverine and mags. I guess my point is I don’t assume what sideshow will release down the line. Of they don’t say it beforehand, anything goes. I too think it’s ridiculous not releasing a white storm or completing the F4. But hey what we think is obvious doesnt mean it is to ss lol. Anyways. Thats that

My point is...most business look to give their customers what they want or are asking for. Just going off the list of characters you mentioned, that's a ton of PFs you passed on just because of the way sideshow runs its business. That's lost dollars for sideshow. Now multiply that by other collectors who share your philosophy. That's a substantial amount of lost revenue. How does that help sideshow's bottom line? How does me (or others like me) keeping quiet help me get the collection I want to display? Sideshow may not give a shyte but that won't stop me from speaking my mind or discussing this topic with like minded collectors. IMO, sideshow doesn't have any excuses for not completing essential lines. Absolutely none. If they can release a Venomsaurus Rex (ES 175) COM that nobody asked for and a Man Thing COM that totaled 300 pieces...there should be no problem completing the lineups they abandoned. Nor do I see a problem with collectors posting that they insist sideshow complete certain lineups. Regardless if they listen or not.
