I'd like to chime in with some positive thoughts in this thread. First of, yes....the armor is strangely small and yes I do hope that Sideshow changes it but here is the stuff that I like:

- Here's a no brainer...this EX is amazing! Might be the coolest EX ever!
- The head sculpt is arguably the best Han sculpt I've ever seen. Even better than what Hot Toys has done in my opinion.
- The pose is fantastic. Dynamic and movie accurate. I may be wrong but there's probably a frame somewhere in the movie where Han took that exact pose...or at
least it seems like it.
- The empty helmet can be placed on the base or next to the base making the whole look even better.
- The base is nice and small but does the job. Good news for space conscious collectors.

All in all I am pretty excited with this piece. Sure I wish the armor size was more accurate but what's here is very enticing to me.

I wouldn't get to excited about the EX until you see the finished product, SS does not have a winning record when it comes to likeness be it the sculpt or really bad paint application. Sure the prototype looks great but look what happen to Gadot WW PF...

I didn't want to say it :lol

The proto portrait doesn't even look that good to me tbh. I'd say it's 80% there, which is quite low in 2018 on a $550 statue. The lips are too big among other things. They look botoxed.
Seems like the perfect opportunity for another Captain America/Chris Evans fiasco during production. Add the whole wrong size armor issue on top of that...

I think it's time we accept it as the norm that at least prior to production pics that Sideshow will never have a decent to great headsculpt that highly resembles an actor.

This mentality will unfortunately mean there is the 'slim' chance that I'll miss a possibly good headsculpt, but it can't always be guaranteed that Sideshow will refund both the NRD and reward points like they did with the BVS Wonder Woman.

In the unlikely chance we get a 'decent' one such as for Rey we should just deem ourselves as lucky and move on.

At the prices that are retrieved today, should convince a product in the price segment (and sorry, that does not do it unfortunately). Thanks, so I have saved money again!

Looking at the comments on this, the ones that think SS screwed it over with bad armor and being too small as well as the one's who say it's great, I can't stop but thinking of the TLJ debate going on right now. It is so obvious that there's issues with the armor so I don't understand how people can like it with such a big noticeable issue.

I've been wanted a 1/4 stormy but after the odd pose of the first one (looks like he's pooping) and now this (hopefully it'll be fixed) it isn't looking good for me grabbing one. Hopefully IS does one (and a snowy).

Probably cause they don't care enough. To them a stormie is a stormie. There's people who like the old helmet despite how retarded it looks. Hell there's people who like the original rubies ****. If they ever saw the better options they might realize how dumb it actually looks but v0v. The fords decent enough, though I have no doubt production would look worse cause it's SS. But ultimately I want a storm trooper, not a han in storm trooper guise so I don't think I'd even display it with it.

The overall armor is horrid, no doubt - but I can't believe people aren't talking about the back shot (below)...

Truly, WTF???? It looks like an adult is wearing a kids costume. :slap

After all these years I've come to the conclusion that Sideshow are the most arrogant collectibles manufacturer in the world. How they can continually ****-up the obvious, is totally bewildering.

I've never seen this pic until now.
LOL! That's embarrassing! :lol

No don't shoot, you'll most likely hit an unarmored spot.

Also since your being sarcastic. That's just compounding on to the stupidly sized **** on the front. I've never understood people who seem to not care about the back part. Seems like from what you're saying you'd be just as happy if the statue was sawed in half and the back part is blank. Let SS know, I'm sure they'd love more ways to save money. Sucks for you that you don't have display space where you can't see anything but the front, other people do. It's a 3d representation of a character. Not a ****** front part, and a ****tier back part "cause you can't see it" (*in your display).

Shoot and that's the angle I was going to display him at too.

Clearly you don't mind if things aren't "perfect" - and that's cool.

But for me, if I'm spending that (insane, when you think about it) amount of money on a toy, I want it to be a damn-near-perfect representation.

If HT can get it as good as they have with their 12," then SSC are ****-out of excuses for such sloppy workmanship.

So if $550 for a "near-enough's-good-enough toy", is okay to you - all power to you, but please allow the rest of us to dislike it, as much as you like it.

Just imagine the people having the mirrored backs on their cabinets and you can still see this fugly tiny tank top there. I know some people love almost everything Sideshow releases, the same way people love EFX no matter what. But this is not a $10 Hasbro figure - heck even some of those recent figures look better - we are talking about more than $500 for this weird looking Stormtrooper wannabe. I guess we can call this thing Smalltrooper LOL

Funnily enough I actually hate SSC's first OT Stormie because of the ridiculous chicken legs and don't much care for their seemingly screen accurate FO Stormtrooper PF because of the weak pose but this new Stormie with the strong stance and sweet proportions I absolutely love. I see that there's too much black visible but it doesn't detract from the overall dynamism of this piece.

So it isn't always a case of someone who disagrees with you "accepting crap," we just all have our own personal preferences and dealbreakers.

I was originally planning on replacing my original ST PF with this one but not with the way it looks currently. I got the original from SSC for $299 with free shipping and just cant justify spending $250 more with the glaring armor issues. I'm just going to wait this one out and see if they fix the armor. If so, maybe I'll get the regular. The Ex head looks great but I don't collect any of the SW good guys and would most likely never use it, so if I miss it no big deal.

Totally agree about the pose and proportions plus I like the helmet on this one as well. That's why I'm disappointed that they just couldn't get the armor right.

Yes helmets are definitely one of my dealbreakers. That's another reason I can accept the armor inaccuracies on this Stormie and the new Fett. The focal point is always the helmet so if I like that and the pose then chances are I'll be happy with the overall piece.

If it helps, I would think that with all of the Stormtroopers in the galaxy there's gotta be at least a couple over-sized goons in their ranks whose armor just don't fit quite right.:lol

I'm going to ret-con in that Han knocked out the tiny little Stormtrooper and Luke knocked out the big one. Hopefully, we'll get a Luke in "Bulky, overlapping" armor to support my theory soon... :)

I guess there could be a never ending list of reasons (excuses) for why the armor is the way it is.:lol
