Congrats man.

I myself, have many children running around the country. I like to set up franchises, like an airline pilot

Congrats Neil!!! Great to hear all is healthy and well. Happy Mother's Day to your wife :chew

Brenna is a great name - it's on my short list for girl's names, so good choice :duff

Now, for the unsolicited advice: Speaking as a girl who had a pretty amazing upbringing by a father who taught me to be as independent as they come... go easy on your daughters, boys. Don't police too hard, or you'll get the opposite result :lol True story: I had a friend in high school who's dad would conveniently clean his guns every time a boy picked her up for a date. She ended up pregnant at 17 :monkey3 Alternatively, my dad never even had 'the talk' with me, leaving all that to sex ed and health class, and I... well, I don't want to get too personal, but let's just say I didn't even give any boys a chance until well into college :lol

Great advice and one I plan on following... But as the football coach I'll have the athletes in line (with great fear instilled in them) and then for the others--well I'll just get the football players to instill that fear.:D

Of course two daughters is just a higher power/karma's way at saying something about how I used to live fancy free.:naughty

Third night was good and as for the first night home Brenna was perfect (knock on wood).

I can imagine it's the forbidden fruit syndrome. Once you tell your little girl that she CANT date and CANT do it, then she wants to do it to piss you off even if she doesn't want to do it herself.

Congrats, Neil! :banana

And do take Dusty's advice. :lecture

I have 2 girls and a boy. And when I was younger I always thought I would be the "shotgun dad", but it turns out I'm more like Dusty's father. I'd rather my kids know right from wrong and are more worried about disappointing me than being punished for something. So far, it seems to be working... but check back with me in about 9 years (when the Type A red head is 16 :google)

Congrats Neil, I have two boys and a daughter myself -- they are all a treasure; but princesses are special. :love

Yes, the not wanting to disappoint aspect is KEY. I don't know how they did it, but I can only HOPE to be as good of a parent as mine were. I think being able to spend a lot of time with them is fundamental, as is a good education, both in life and in books.

NO worries with that as both of us (their parents) are educators.
My (soon to be) 2 year-old adores books and loves having books read to her or pretending to read herself.

Now, in terms of rebelling I was (and still am) a PK... Preacher's Kid (well that could stand for Professor's Kid as well I guess) and as I didn't have a curfew when I was in high school and hitchhiked through Europe during the summer between my grade 11 and 12 year I was given a great deal of rope to hang myself with-- but my parent's trusted my judgement.

I'll try and do the same.
