@Victοr 's face when he saw the costume for Kang.
Wtf, how did you get that picture of me?!

I do wonder if HT'll do a MODOK Power Pose. At ~200 or so it could be worth it. I'd pair it with my Iron Men. Some leaks say he dies, others say he escapes. We'll see, maybe he'll return later.

I just went to look at some Kang images, and to my eye, the Ant-Man version of Kang is very reminiscent of how Kang appears in the comics. I say that knowing full well that Victor and others know a lot more about Kang and his background than I remember. But visually the MCU depiction of Kang is similar as depicted below:
I missed this post, sorry. It's similar, but the devil's in the details. Same way the first TASM look was similar to the core design, but was needlessly busy and different just to be different.

I don’t remotely agree with Victor’s opinion on the actor or the look, but I am certainly entertained by it.

Personally think Kang is going to be great.

Full disclosure, I can’t say I was ever a major Kang fan, though I respect his hustle. I’m still viewing him as a seat-filler until Doctor Doom shows up.
I've always liked Kang because he had a neat gimmick and made for a fun recurring enemy. His design is zany, but somehow fits. There's some logic behind it, unlike someone like, say, Darkseid, who just looks ridiculous for no good reason. The problem is that Kang is small fries for the wider cosmic scene. Well, small fries downplays him, but he's mid tier. He's a fine end Avengers boss, but he's not on the level of high powered High Evolutionary, Thanos, or even something like Phalanx Ultron, let alone the real big hitters. I went over it in the AMQM thread, but he's basically a smug ******* relying on stolen tech and having no real tangible goals. He's entertaining, but he's not exactly deep. At the very least not deep enough to warrant all this build up and allotted time in upcoming movies.

And herein lies the problem. Even if they move to the X-Men, beyond the Phoenix and maybe Apocalypse's Celestial ties, they don't need to have them be the cosmic bookends of each phase. Magneto, Farouk, the Sentinels; all of those are dangerous but they're Earth-level threats. So if you want to keep upping the ante you look to the Cosmic stuff. The Annihilation Wave, Operation Galactic Storm, Amatsu Mikabotsi, most Strange enemies, Molecule Man, and so on. But now they're doing a Multiversal Collapse, so literally everything beyond it will be small change. The X-Men, Spider-Man, the base Avengers and whatnot won't be affected, but the Cosmic/Magic players absolutely will. How am I supposed to care for a Universal Level Threat, when these fellas have already saved the Multiverse?

Kang did not need this much attention. He's literally just one aspect of Doom turned into a character. He stole Doom's Time Machine and uses it to conquer using hax. Fun, but hardly a character that needed two full Phases plus one of build-up devoted solely to him. He should've popped up in multiple movies under different guises and played by various actors, only for the whole thing to end with The Kang Dynasty, his big gamble for total domination. There was no need to involve Incursions and tie them to him. Secret Wars is nothing without the Reed/Doom heart and the Illuminati. But they're doing it. And they're giving it to Kang. They're taking a one note fun mustache twirling villain and trying to stretch him thin. As if seeing that guy play 5 slightly different roles will make all the difference... We're getting a half-assed adaptation because they want to do Multiverses and Memberies before Stewart croaks, Jackman is unable to bulk, and so on. But that's not in service to the story.

Ultimately, it's Doom who suffers the most. He's been THE Marvel villain before Thanos, ever since the first Secret Wars in the 80s. They're throwing Doom completely under the bus to prop up a pale imitation of him, played by a mid nobody. And to me that's insulting. It's not the time that I mind. It's that they've clearly lost the plot and sat on the FF/XM for so long that there is no point to it anymore. There'll be nobody left bar them and maybe some guys like Daredevil and the Young Avengers. Wow, what I've always wanted, Doom to interact with the Runaways and Domino... There's no room for him anymore. Kang will already have become the Multiversal God Emperor or, as per rumors, the Beyonder. He's gonna be a Kang who Kanged so hard he went Beyond™. It's stupid. They're ruining so many characters and stories for literally no reason. And again, Doom's the one who comes out the worst. What's he gonna do once all his schemes, motivations and stories have been handed out to others? He's gonna hound Richards for the 5th time across a decade? Riveting stuff...

I'll buy a Clown Kang dolly, swap a head and leave it at that. If Rama-Tut gets made and looks cool enough, I'll do the same. But I'm in no hurry to see it all unfold. Part of me wants them to keep failing, but I know that way they'll never get to Doom, even a shadow of himself, so...

I have to say, I hope this outfit doesn’t look “plasticky” in hand as Victor mentioned. But I grow increasingly fond of this suit the more I see it …

I do hope that they find a way to make Doom a big part of the MCU in the near future, he definitely deserves it. Doom is easily one of Marvels greatest characters

We'll see. I think they'll make him. The question is when. The flick comes out next month, but I figure they'll just show Scott & Hope. Maybe Klawng will follow a month later. Then again I'm still waiting for the MoM Stranges... The question for me is the head. If it's simply Majors' head painted light blue like that awful shot in the trailer, I'm gonna have to look for a replacement. If it's like the promo art, with the more metallic look, white eyes and lines, I'll leave it as is because that does look cool. Despite my rants, I am really curious to see the dolly in any case.

If they waste all of his stories on Klawng, what will be the point of Doom in 5 years or whatever? I want to be optimistic, but...

Yeah they almost certainly will start out with Scott and Hope first with Kang (Klawng hahaha) and possibly others to to follow. And I agree that it would be great if the figure has a more metallic look to his face …more gravitas

I hope that the creative minds of the MCU do find a way to have a meaningful Doom story line, one that befits a character of his magnitude. If they include him as some shallow one and done throw away type villain it would be a tragedy.

All we can do is wait and hope. Ah well, there are worse things.

I’m still more than stoked with my original Ant Man and Wasp figures. They are both excellent figures and imo in the case of AM, still hasn’t been bettered in quality from subsequent editions.

I’ll get the Kang… and Cassie. But I don’t see any more figs coming from this film. Maybe M.O.D.O.K. at a stretch depending on his influence.

I'm kind of surprised we haven't gotten a Namor figure yet. I thought in time with the blu ray at home release ( apparently it is being released in China soon ) we'll get Namor, his megalodon throne, dragon headgear, etc.

But if its Quantumania then it should be Kang and eventually Modok as the next reveals.

You gotta love Rudd. I can’t think of another actor who has aged so well and is still willing to just be so ridiculously goofy.
