Checking Sideshow's "Upcoming Products" page. Noticed they added a few thumbnails for coming SDCC reveals. Most are already displayed at Hot Toys summer showcase event but another character teased during celebration could make his debut at SDCC.

Just because a figure isn’t at a convention doesn’t mean it isn’t close to being done- look at Cad Bane. Not at Celebration and then put up for preorder three weeks later!

However, what a disappointing event for me if this is truly it. I remember when these events used to be exciting which then led us to worry if they would be made because there were so many awesome figures. And now here we are. Reissue central, masked characters and weird one offs that I don’t know many were asking for. Happy for everyone who got something they were looking for today but ooft, this is a big misfire for me.
 
Just skipped through the Sideshow preview video MyenShi posted in the Clone Commander thread. If there is nothing else, and I don't think there is then this is easily the worst SDCC I have ever seen from HT by a longshot. Literally nothing new I am interested in. Lucasfilm is destroying Star Wars.

I was going to watch it, But I’ll take your word for it instead. Oh well, I needed to save a little $$ anyway.
 
I just looked at that video. I don't know if I'm frustrated or angry. There's clearly nothing else going out because there's no room for anything in those display cases. Unless they're adding a third one for Star Wars, which seems unlikely.

OT/PT/TCW stuff clearly sells. Star Wars has to be their second biggest line behind Marvel. But it's just amazing how lazy they're getting. We all complain about the lack of major characters like Mace, Padme, Fives and Darth Sidious missing. They'll sell. But Hot Toys just refuses to put effort into sculpts for Star Wars anymore. It's actually infuriating.

I'm out on Marvel because phase 4 sucks. At this point I'm going to stop collecting Star Wars Hot Toys and just focus on other lines like Lord of the Rings and military. It's just not worth watching them continue to raise prices and put less work in. I mean, how to Wrecker and Tech not have sculpts?

This lineup at SDCC just makes me want to go back to collecting hockey stuff like I used to before I shifted to pop culture. This is just brutal.
 
Wrecker and Tech will have sculpts. They'll just show those later.

Would not bet one single dollar on this AotC "wave 2" we keep hearing about. Show me the goods or shush till you do.
 
I think this is pretty much "that's it" for this year SDCC, nothing new except for Tech prototype. Was hoping to see more of AOTC wave 2 though...

That annoys me more than the lack of sculpts for Wrecker and Tech, because I'm sure those will be put up for pre-order and have the sculpts shown then. It's just a waiting game, but these cons used to be something worth getting excited about and they can't even give us that.

Seriously, how hard would it be to rework the Rex/Jesse/Cody sculpt and give us a Fives figure already? AOTC wave 2 was announced two months ago now and nothing. Where's Mace? Padme? Kit Fisto? Plo Koon? Padawan Anakin? Chancellor Palpatine? Is this thing on??

If this is what they're doing for AOTC, I feel hopeless thinking about the ROTJ anniversary next year. We're going to end up getting General Calrissian with the same sculpt, a Boba reissue and a Vader reissue. Say goodbye to Admiral Ackbar, Wedge Antilles, Boushh Leia, Admiral Piett, Nien Nunb...literally anything exciting.

I don't know man but if you still thinking about these figures all these years I assume you're still living in entirely different dimension, definitely not on current practical and realistic reality. But Boushh Leia is a potential one, if not done by Hot Toys she could be a viable candidate as a reissue from SideShow.

Summed it up perfectly. It’s inexcusable that we are missing so many MAIN characters in the Star Wars universe. Characters like Mace and Padme aren’t just fan favourites, these characters are as key as anyone in the Prequel Trilogy. Just an extremely weak showing but that is indicative of 2022 Hot Toys.

Compare it to 2019. These were all NEW prototypes. Sure many weren’t made but to come to SDCC without anything truly notable except a vehicle which is only for such a small portion of the collector base? Just a shame.

 
You know, I was expecting the ROTS 20th to give us a deluxe Palpatine, a ROTS Padme, reissues of Anakin & Obi-Wan, plus a Vader with a Crispy Hayden head, but with the way they're going nowadays, and how they're treating the AOTC 20th, I feel that a Vader will be all we'll get. This is honestly embarassing. On all fronts they're dropping the ball. Let's hope they have more to show during SDCC because if this is it...
