I think it is more Disney Lucasfilm putting their own stamp on it. Same happened with the Disney era Stormtrooper. Some alterations to make the suit more practical to wear and to fix symmetry but then they add completely unnecessary changes like altered buttons on the belly plate or the small hole and recessed line on the back plate. It is to differentiate their troopers from Lucas era ones.

Won’t disagree that there’s an element of wanting to put their own stamp on the designs, but I also don’t think there’s that much of a mandate from above. These have always felt more like individual preferences.

It was explained that the RO TK changes were cooked up by Gareth Edwards and Doug Chiang to make the suits feel more real. Aside from practicality, they said it was about correcting elements that didn’t feel as fully realized in the original suits.

Which arguably feels unnecessary as a fan of the originals, but it was their call to make.

Similarly, I think the aesthetic changes to the Clone armor were stylistic choices by the designer. Especially more so since LFL outsourced the design of the Clone suit to someone outside the company.

True that they could’ve asked for some of those changes, but they seem to have gotten free rein to do as they saw fit. More than you’d expect.

Totally. Inart makes nice figures, no doubt. I just don't get why people think Inart is like the saviour or something unless you are a DC collector. If Howard Chan is not a big SW fan, there won't even be that many 1/6 SW on the market.

A Mando filled May the 4th is probably the worst possible outcome for me in my interest level in the figures...but therefore, would be the safest for my wallet.

I don’t think there’s going to be as much Mando on May 4th as people feel/seem concerned about.

Hot Toys has to balance ROTJ 40th, CW 20th, Mando S3, and Ahsoka announcements this year.

There’s a ton of Mando figures collecting dust in warehouses across the world. I think they’re going to be a bit more conservative with Mando S3 figures this time around.

It’s harder to move collectibles in general at the moment even without factoring in the divisive season.

So you’re definitely not safe yet.

So true. Every time I see a non-Star Wars announcement from HT I'm first bummed and then relieved...sometimes in the reverse order though

A mandalorian may 4th would be a disaster. What big announcement could there be? More din or a trooper that will get discounted in a year? May 4 should be rotj. We already got 2 big releases in C3po and Vader. We have a million 501 variants. Save the clone wars for sdcc. We need Han. He is the only announcement I would be happy with. Give us 5 rotj figures like last year with aotc. For me, it’s han or bust.

I still think we’ll see a Fett, but if they pull the rug out, my money‘s on Boushh. They have the ROTJ Leia portrait so it’s very doable.

Grogu and IG-12 is my guess or that life-size Grogu and pram they already teased.

Probably some Mando, ROTJ and maybe Clone Wars.

Hoping for Han but expecting troopers and reissues.

They absolutely will make that but not until 2025 and the ROTS anniversary, and then you'll have to wait until 2026/27 for it to release.
