I am utterly dumbfounded.

I don't know if it's selective traumatic amnesia, lunacy, or what but it's insanity to continue to dispute these points any longer. The literal people in charge have confirmed that the ST had no plan, and it's toy sales suck.

It was also nice to see Howard say the ST itself sucks and that Luke's portrayal in TLJ was awful. Makes it a little easier to continue overspending on his products.

The armorer does make sense to come out in the near future. Great looking costume and it should help that no sculpt is needed. I would definitely like to buy her season one look before they possibly change her costume in season three.

Several Kenner 20/21-backs were pegwarmers ("legwarmers" that era?) - Power Droid and R5 especially - as were a good number of ROTJ and POTF figs in 84 and 86. I have seen a ton of OT stuff pegwarming over the decades, and I saw a hundred tons of PT stuff pegwarming in that era. I bought a Hasbro Jedi Starfighter for $2.97 and a massive Republic gunship for around $10 at KB.

It obviously comes down to media support - something in theaters or streaming in that moment that's hot. But with the ST I did see many instances where stuff was sitting even with the movies making $1B+ in theaters.

As Wor says, it's possible that play patterns had changed so much by the mid 2010s that it really was more about older fans buying (or not,) and older fans were often "blamed" for not liking the ST. So it makes sense the product wasn't moving.

I will say that the phenomenon I saw was people seemed stunned/hypnotised by TFA the same way TPM did (that "RETURN OF STAR WARS!!!" euphoria,) but then people seemed to get a hangover quickly with TLJ - buddies of mine who adored TFA initially seemed to being cooling on the ST even before TLJ came out.

One thing is clear - kids were overwhelmingly the target consumer in the 70s and 80s, but that steadily reversed through the PT (more like young adults) and then up to the ST era to be adults, and that was the case for buying the actual movie tickets as the bo stats for RO and the ST clearly showed older.

Not sure what the stats are on Mando, who is predominantly watching due to corp secretive nature of streaming - but the show does seem to have captured the imagination of older fans in a "consensus" way that the ST clearly didn't.

Well said all around. These kids that were born in the 90's but are now grown have no concept of SW toys pegwarming in the heyday of toys no less! 1986-1994 toys were still huge and yet NOTHING from Star Wars on the toy shelves. Kenner finally gave up which allowed Lucas to renegotiate his merchandising deal with them.

If the mighty OT couldn't move product 2-3 short years after ROTJ left theaters when toys were all the rage then I'm not going to sit here and be shocked if two trilogies later the toys peeter out when kids are more interested in other forms of play anyway.

It really does come down to what accompanying media is out at that time as Howard Chan confirmed with his comments about Mando.

So ST sales are "awful." Compared to what? And are "good" SW HT sales really good compared to say Marvel? I'm genuinely curious.

Imagine if box office numbers were given in Howard Chan terms and nothing else:

Star Wars: GREAT
Empire Strikes Back: AWFUL compared to the previous film!
Return of the Jedi: An improvement over previous film!
Phantom Menace: AWESOME

And so on. I like numbers. I like context. I like knowing exactly how much money Solo lost, how TFA did compared to Titanic, and so on.

From Lucas to Kennedy they all lie so I like it when statements are supported by evidence and context. But by all means be a good little gaslighter, stay in your lane and swallow what they give you to swallow.

There is no reason for Disney to revisit the ST. They can spend time connecting the past (Mando) to the ST if they so choose but I would imagine they are more interested in exploiting the rich new territory of the Mando and Fett series.

I agree. Now that they introduced hyperspace tracking on ships as small as one man fighters (the TIE's that chased the Falcon at the opening of TROS) and Force healing/resurrection I 100% think that the series should end with TROS. Like you said the time period between the OT and ST is a goldmine of possibilities so I'd prefer that they stay there.

I agree with others that the Armorer is coming. I didn't realize the Jawa and Gonk Droid are in stock still, so no Jawas need to be made. I am not sure where they go after Armorer and MandoV3, maybe onto BoB.

I'm also sitting at 20 HT pre-orders, in addition to the Cara Dune and Vader PF and the 1/4 HT Mando. I have all my organs and a wife and do not need extra of either...

I'm on 29 It doesn't help that they've been releasing so many figures you want to double up on (501st, Coruscant Guard, Tusken Raiders, Dark Troopers etc.)

I don't know how some of you guys have the display space for all of thee figures coming out, I'm already trying to figure out what to do with stuff that's coming, never mind the figures I already can't display.

I have a list but I don't want to count. It's a lot of figures, and a lot of multiples of those figures. Just keep going to work, and look for opportunities to make as much money as possible.
