I think you criticizing the cost of these holds absolutely no merit given you tried to justify building one out of a big gulp cup so as to not have to fork over cash for a regular Sideshow figure.
As to the episode, you need to read the Traviss novels more. Being such a big fan of the clones, you would've seen the many nods to Traviss' RC's with that storyline. That said, I agree that this was an odd choice as (unlike you), I already own a 212 clone and these are essentially 212 variants.
I've read almost all four books now (still working on the last one) and I don't recall any nods to Karen Traviss. Perhaps I am subconsciously trying to forget it...
At any rate, I still think that trying to lie about finding the girl was silly and unnecessary.
And you really won't let that McTrooper go will you?
I just don't think $225 is a justifiable price when the Twi'Lek girl isn't necessary, and does not even seem to be very articulated.
And just so you know, it just so happens I have purchased 2 Sideshow clones since the McTrooper project, and am considering buying another one. You don't have any grounds to assume that I don't have a 212th trooper, you just assume I live in a cardboard box because I don't like spending large amounts of money on 12 inch figures if I don't have to, and I happen to be a creative person. You know next to nothing about my life. It just so happens that neither trooper I bought was a 212th trooper, so you are correct in your groundless assumption, but only by chance.
And all I'm saying is if they were just a bit cheaper I'd gladly shell out the cash for them, but they don't seem like they're worth $100 each. Perhaps if they came with more hands, like Clonobi did, but seriously, how expensive can they be to mass-produce? It's the same armor pieces over and over and over again.
The $125 price tag of Rex and Cody seems a bit more justified, as each comes with extra goodies not found on a regular trooper repaint. Also, several of the pieces are quite unique to each figure and likely won't be used again very much (unlike the basic armor), such as Cody's backpack and special helmets.
They can't charge too much less. They have established each clone with a $90 price tag and that is with a single head. Secondly, at some point they will want to sell characters with this body type, whether they are Jawas, Ugnaughts, younglings, etc, and it will be hard to justify a full price for an item they basically gave away.
I think $225 will be about right, and even thats on the cheap side.
i imagine SST must be planning to either price this 'rerelease" accordingly or limit it to a very low edition number. i would hope that they are somewhat aware of what their public wants and after the deluge of repaints, this release seems "ambitious" (not ambitious in as "Cyber Maul let's really push the envelope", but ambitious as in "let's crank up the 212th paint machine and see if we can squeeze a little more out"). Cody and Rex promote the line as moving onwards and upwards, but this package is either extremely targeted at a very specific masterfan base or naively redundant. SST can either price this item accordingly, or budget for more warehouse space.
i am certain SST doesn't want to become a holding company... i would hope that they realize that this is almost like a "rerelease" or a "special edition" of the 212th... they have a lot of cool Star Wars figs on the way, and this release is bound to fall by the wayside. i am a huge fan of their clones, but even i have my doubts if i need this redundancy...
The next 1:6 scale Star Wars figure was not announced in the newsletter today.
I am not pleased.
No 30 days for Greedo either.
But then, based on Beachhead's notice...we could get a 2-day notice for Greedo tomorrow.
