I would be very surprised if we actually saw the next xbox released in 2012.
2013 or 2014 makes more sense to me.

With the whole RROD fiasco, I'll wait a year or 2 before I pick up the next Xbox or any console for that matter.

I don't are what Microsoft say or do to hype their next console. I won't pay til around 9 months after release. That is if those nine months present no unforgivable console killing hardware problems

I just can't think of anything they can really bring to the table that would be really new. Graphics can only get so real looking. Motion control gimmicks don't do it for me. I dont have the room or desire to jump around in front of my TV. My fat ass wants a regular controller.

To me, the Kinect just isn't accurate or powerful enough. All the stuff they are doing on the PC with Kinect is really cool, but if they could upgrade it with an HD camera and improve the processing speed, they could really do some amazing things.
Mainly, I would want full 1080p graphics (since at the moment, most games are 720p at the most) I'm sure they'd work to have something unique, but I'm ready for the next generation of graphics.

You won't hear any complaints from me if that turns out to be the case. I was a bit late on the current gen of consoles. My 360 is less than 3 years old and my PS3 is less than 2 and I want to enjoy these for awhile. The PS3 an 360 still have alot of potential left. I remember reading in an article when the PS3 first came out that Sony was aiming to give it a 10 year life span.

yeah l read something like that also. they were not going to have new consoles for quite sometime. they were just going to update the technologies for the system as time goes on.

I thought the point of kinect and PSmove was to bridge the gap between now and about two-three years from now when the next gen will release?
Maybe nintendo is forcing them to do a reveal, and then people wait, and wait for two years before it actually comes out. With internet hype going mad throughout the whole time.

This is annoying because last year at E3, Microsoft & Sony said the current generation will not be superseded until 2015! But since I'm studying to be in the game industry, I would suspect that since a good AAA game takes a decent 24-36 months to develop preparation on a new console should be kicking off around about now, in terms of inviting 3rd party developers in so they learn the new hardware... I doubt we'll see or hear anything more than hearsay until 2012 or 2013.
