This Ray Rice things has become an even bigger PR nightmare for the league. TMZ released the whole video, and now the NFL is backtracking saying they never saw it. So Goodell suspended him for 2 games without seeing it? This is such a farce. For $44 million I think the league can find a better puppet in a suit to be commissioner.

saw the video too, nasty punch to her and then the head slams on the railing. Her head took three blows in total, his fist, the railing, and then the floor..

Did any understandings of the details of the event change? They knew he knocked her out before, right? So the video release seems redundant. Or is the penalty worse if you actually see it happening?

Goodell is in an untenable position here, because after Rice's soft suspension the league leaked stories that implied that a big part of the reason for the leniency was that the tape from inside the elevator contained evidence that mitigated Rice's responsibility. Now - after the tape is out - the NFL is leaking stories implying that Goodell never saw the tape until recently. No matter the truth, we know as fact that Goodell is both a liar and a fool.

So Goodell didn't see it but TMZ can find it? Who in the hell does the NFL have working for them doing research? They might need to be fired.

In fairness, TMZ has stuff lots of other folks don't. They have contacts, money, and aren't willing to push the envelope on appropriateness or legality in pursuit of juicy gossipy news like this. Goodell does strike me as a typical executive type, who doesn't really care about anything but pandering to his stockholders (in this case, the NFL owners). But that's what the owners want, and they're his boss. It isn't like his job is honestly to act in the interests of the game or its fans.

Ray Rice has been released by the Ravens and suspended indefinitely by the NFL

Now the question is who's going to sign him?

I'd wager no one this season. Next year some team will sign him despite the fact that he's already hit the wall as far as RBs go. He'll get the sit-down interview with St. Dungy where we'll be told that Ray's a great guy and we need to forgive.

Pretty sure if Vick can kill numerous dogs and be aloud back, sure, Rice will be back (in time) for knocking out the women he married after the incident.

In the NFL, it's all about what you can do on the field. Kill a guy, kill dogs, beat women, snort coke off of hookers, doesn't matter so long as you can produce.

Exactly TMZ can get lots of things the NFL wish they could get. They are willing to pay someone to get it, and the legality of how that person gets it doesn't matter. The NFL security people can't do that.

Why is there no outrage against the law enforcement agency who presses no real charges who would have had access to this video.

Yep. It won't be this season but I bet he will get reinstated and somebody will sign him.

I don't know, think this guy is done

The whole world has seen video of knocking out a woman, don't think any nfl owner is dumb enough to sign this guy

Well, he did get indicted for aggravated assault in March, but they got married the very next day. That kinda put an end to the law enforcement agencies following forward.

How terrible do the Ravens look today too? Then again this is the franchise that employs Suggs and has a Ray Lewis statue outside their stadium.
