Thumb goes through the grid in the facemask. Not a penalty in my opinion. "Grabbing the face mask," yet he never grabbed it. I don't understand it.

NFL is not even fun to watch anymore.

Any contact to the QB's head is a personal fall. The Lions' player got enough of the face mask to turn Rodgers head so that's enough to throw the flag.

What are we supposed to be seeing?

Guy knows the score and the heartbreaking outcome at 7:03pm. Guy could be trolling...

Not saying the game is rigged... but that is crazy if that is a real prediction of this game at that time

Still can't believe how bad refs are. They cost the Titans a win. The Pats a win. Now the Lions two wins. Lions should be 6-6 and competing for a playoff spot.

Super Bowl is going to be a complete joke this year if the refs handle that game like these last few games.

The Lions cost themselves the win: blew 20-0 lead, only rush 3 on last play, and let the receivers get in front of them on the Hail Mary. Poor execution especially since the Lions should not have been outnumbered in the endzone.

Well the fact that he wears a helmet that doesn't fit right helped a lot. A correct fitting helmet would have NEVER moved.

Refs arent worse, cameras and angles are way better. There was stat that they have go the same % right this year as other years and they got over 95% right. The fact that people want refs to be perfect is pure insanity. There is no way they are going to get every call right especially when we have the ability to go back see it from 50000000000 angles , slow it down go frame by frame. Stand in the sideline of a NFL game and watch it a full speed and see how good you can do. They also didn't cost the Lions any wins. The Lions were not guaranteed a win if they get the fumble call different they still had to score and last night they in some ways deserve to lose but they defiantly are getting any help from the refs.

But the helmet didn't move while his finger was grazing the face mask. It moves when Rodgers turned his head after the guys hand was on his shoulder pad. At best its a major ticky tack call that should not have been called and at worst its a total screw up. That being said Detroit completely blew that last play.. how in the hell can you only rush 3.

His helmet definitely moved when his face mask was hit...there's a great gif of it that I can't seem to post here for some reason

It only looked like a ticky tack call on replay and super slow mo. In real time, it looked worse and that's what the ref saw. It's not a reviewable play so it stands. It's easy to question after the fact, but in game speed it looked like an obvious face mask.

Also the defenders body language after the play implied he knew he got too close to the face mask.

Don't get me wrong, the pack are playing like **** and got lucky with this one. But it's not just that play that cost the lions. It was the whole 2nd half. They let their guard down.

I saw that gif to me that was Rodgers moving his head not the defender. And I'll agree at real speed it looked bad but on such an important play they should have at least looked but I don't know if Detroit could throw a red flag for that type of call anyway. In the end Det really blew it big time so while that call hurt it wasn't the defining moment.

It was unlucky call because by definition its not a face mask. But at full speed the way Rogers head moves (own its own), the fact that he wears a helmet that is too big and a very loose chinstrap makes it look worse even though (again the facemask had was not the reason) not to mention the Ref is behind him where the angle we have is from the front.

How has Jim Caldwell escaped getting blamed for this one? The setup for the last play was inexcusable.

You are 100% correct. Nothing but breakdowns on the Lions part to cough up the game. Lions have no one else to blame for the loss.

IS he the D Cord?

No, just the head coach or the guy with all the authority. I read that he thought they were going to throw short and try a series of laterals. I just don't agree with that thought. Everyone should have been playing deep in my opinion.
