All these years later I still can't believe the refs didn't call Woodson's obvious head slap. The tuck was correct even if people didn't like it.
Even if it was a fumble it would have been awarded back to New England, correct?
Yes, with the head slap flag. Without it would've been a clear Raider recovery.
You guys have me confused
1. Watching the video a million times there is no head slap... Nothing obvious anyways... Even in the pic I posted you can see his hand is going for the arm. This is the first I have ever heard anyone claim there was a head slap... It's even part of NFL's greatest game and there was a anniversary mini doc on it and no mention of a "head Slap"
Searching the internet I found one non official site that said there was a head slap. But If it was... it was less of a head slap then it was a fumble

The Tuck Rule - NFL Videos
2. If it was ruled a fumble (which originally it was) it would have been Raiders ball because there was no head slap... No flag and nothing I can see on tape or video.
3. After Instant replay it was ruled Patriots ball because of the Tuck Rule. A player who's arm is in motion even if he is attempting to Tuck the ball back into his body is an incomplete pass... Brady Pump faked (because of coverage) held onto the ball with both hands and Woodson hit him.... But Tuck rule. I always joked that QB's should always pump fake that way they are in a permatuck
4. The Tuck Rule was so stupid that the NFL got rid of it two years later....
Tom Brady has since admitted he thought it was a fumble but a little known rule saved the team.
Raiders still had a chance to take care of business and didn't so it is what it is... Still tuff to watch when the specials about it come on. Raiders really dominated that game until the last 7 min. Brady era began after that game. Worst thing about it was that Al (the nut) Davis let Gruden go and that came back to bite us in the ass in the Super Bowl
Then 12 years of some of the worst football ever... tuff to be a Raiders fan.
