It's so hard to be a Redskin fan (my hometown). Pathetic. Worse than the Browns.
Like I said before, I think they played extremely well today. Their defense was solid, their offense kept moving the ball down the field (the Saints D didn't stop them very much), they just blew it at the end, and against a very good team like the Saints, you can't screw up the little things like a chip-shot field goal.

Saints just need to lock up homefield throughout the playoffs, otherwise I think they are likely to be stung.

I could live with a Colts / Saints Superbowl...

I dont think that either will be in the SB. Colts are just unimpressive, they either squeak out the win or the other team will just just flat out gives them the game. Saints I am not sold on I was like wow last week but then this game its the exact opposite wow.

If I had to pick an AFC team to be in the SB I would take the Chargers(now that they started to play) In the NFC who the hell knows.

"Trap game" huh karamazov80? I remember you saying in your earlier post that it was time for the to implode?!

No it's not, and the SAINTS WON! There were some crazy plays, no doubt. But, in the end a win is a win, and we'll take it! :D

THE SAINTS ARE NOW 12-0...AND HAVE CLINCHED THE N.F.C. SOUTH DIVISION! :banana :chew

Since we won, and the Falcons lost today. We've now won our division!

So how many games will the Saints have to win for you to become an optimist? I always have been, and always will be! :D

Only 1--the Superbowl. Until then, they aren't gonna fool me. Like you Jedi, I know the Saints from years of being a fan, but that experience tells me to expect the worst until they prove me wrong. Fact is, they can go 16-0, and if they lose the first playoff game, it won't mean a damn thing, and if the Saints know how to do anything, it is to disappoint. They're still my team of course, and I'm thrilled as any fan could be when they win, but this team is gonna have to do a lot more than win a bunch of regular season games against (mostly) crappy teams to prove to me that they really are the real deal.

Superbowl or bust!

And you can criticize my perspective if you want to, but at least I've stuck around. I've had a number of friends over the years who just gave up and stopped being fans at all. That's what the Saints can do to people.

I actually agree with this. I am not sold on the Saints as a SB team either. They almost lost to the Rams and now the Skins, both ????ty teams. Pats are not 2007 Pats. Anyone from the NFC could make it.

If the Vikings are a championship team, they will go on the road tonight and win AT the Cards with a 7-4 record.

Even if your team does lose in the first round, you still gotta be having a good time this season. It don't HAVE to be about the SB (thats a hard feat)

Yeah, I can see your point that the Super Bowl matters...a lot. But so does an undefeated season. Yeah, if we get to the big game, and lose it...that will hurt BAD. :( But I know we will still be VERY proud of our team for the incredible season that they had! Even if we end up 16-0, and then lose in the playoffs. What a dream season it has been! Sometimes I want to ask someone to "pinch me". Am I dreaming? But it's such a great feeling to know that it is all real! :D

Lots of Saints fans have come and gone over the years. I agree with you about that. I can't blame those that left from holding out for our team year after year, and then just give up. It has been a very long and frustrating road for us! No doubt about that!

This team has already proven to me that they are the "real deal"! After all of the incredible plays, and performances they have put up this season has proven to me that they are!

I'm one of those "die-hard" Saints fans that is here to stay! A proud member of the "WHO DAT NATION"! :D

Next up for us are the Atlanta Falcons in their home stadium. It should be a fun game. We'll beat them too. I HAVE FAITH IN THE SAINTS!

Thinking of the Saints as "lovable losers" is really the only way I've stayed a fan. If I were optimistic and got my hopes crushed year after year, that would be unbearable. As such, I think a lot more fans like you Jedi have left over the years than I have. When they lose, I'm sad, but not shocked or overly disappointed. When they win, it's a great surprise! As this year is. If I expected them to win and they lost over and over, honestly, I don't know how I could take it.

I honestly thought this was the "trap" game that was gonna catch the Saints. Short week after an emotional win, important starting defensive players out, playing against a very good defensive team in bad weather. . .but they proved me wrong again, in a good way. If they aren't too careful, this team is gonna turn me into a damn optimist about the Saints' chances.

We still got really lucky, though. The wacky take-away touchdown by Meachem at the end of the first half, the stupid missed chip-shot field goal with a couple minutes left by Washington, the fumble in OT (that I actually think wasn't a fumble). Honestly, I feel bad for Redskins fans. They played better today for the most part, but couldn't do the things they needed to to seal the deal when it mattered. This win would have meant a lot to those fans, but the Saints do what they have all season, and find ways to win.

Glad Carney's dumb ass was benched today.

The Saints have already had a great season. And loss in the post season is not necessarily an implosion. I am not trying to tell you how to be a fan. But I can say that I am glad I don't run in to Steelers fans like that.

I've stayed a fan for all this time looking at the Saints in many ways over the years. Yeah, "lovable losers" comes to mind, the whole "shoulda, woulda, coulda" thing (I can hear former coach Jim Mora saying that in the back of my mind), "Cha-Ching", "Who Dat!", etc. Lots of key words and phrases bring the Saints to mind when I hear them. Both good times and bad. As I said earlier we always kept our (my family and friends that are Saints fans like me) dedication to them, and said "well, there's always next year". So we've always held that hope season after season. The Saints have won the NFC division a few times in the past (1987 and 2000), and again this season.

I just can't let it go that if we don't win the Super Bowl that this season won't matter. It will! It has already to millions of Saints fans! We're a winning team. We've finally earned the respect that we have strived for over the years. You, like me, know how much this team means to our state, our region. It's hard to describe. When they lose I get depressed. When they win I am thrilled! I have an emotional bond with the Saints. They have a special place in my heart. I've taken personal posession of the Saints like so many other fans have. They are MY team, and I've always been proud to be a Saints fan. Win or lose. A lot of fans "like me" have left over the years? Yeah, probably. It's very likely, no, it is true. But I am not leaving. I never will. :D

I figured that the Vikes would have some real road rust in this game, but I expected to stay within 7 or so. The Vikings have had a VERY easily schedule thus far, with their only real road test being a loss at Pittsburgh; it was just a matter or which Cardinals team would show up.

Of course, it is great that the Saints are winning. It is enjoyable now, it will be memorable for us for years to come, etc. etc. But what will people remember about this season 5 or 10 years from now, if anything? The team that won the Superbowl. It won't even matter who was the runner up. The reason teams play the game is to win the Superbowl. They don't play to play well during the regular season, and I didn't think that fans typically rooted for their team to have a good regular season (though maybe I'm wrong). They want to win, fans want them to win, and to win it all. That's why they hire expensive coaches and QBs and spend absurd amounts of money on draft picks--to win the Superbowl. And when you do, I'm sure it is glorious. Having a great regular season is nice, but at the end of the day, Sean Peyton doesn't care about that. Drew Brees doesn't care about that. Is it wrong for fans to have the same goal as the team? That's what I want as a fan, and anything less will be disappointing. A complete bust of a season? No. But a disappointment to be sure, because both the worst team in the league and the team who was second best end up with no title.
