NO!

I refuse to accept that type of loss or any loss by the Saints!

I always will "expect" them to win! What do you think man? Haven't we gone back and forth about this enough? You the old fan, that is pessimistic about the Saints. Me, the old fan that is optimistic about them. DO NOT give up on them before they even play the game!

I don't think the Saints should play a single starter next week. They need to do some meditation and forget the last few games, and come back fresh and rested.
IMO that would be the WORST thing they could do and I would bet they would be gone in there first game. If they did that that would mean that they would have not played a good game in almost 5 weeks.

Jeri Ryan in a Saints jersey...and nothing else! :naughty

Now that's something I can dream about tonight. :D

Oh wait...and she's holding the Super Bowl trophy in the other hand...and the Saints are all around her....it keeps getting better the more I think about it! :D

Yeah, good luck Eagles in that monstrosity to Jerry Jones' greed. His new "super stadium" or whatever you want to call it!

Don't kick at the giant screen! You just might hit it! :horror

They were talking about the stadium on ESPN and they said the stadium itself almost ruins homefield advantage. Why? They say the people are so busy watching TV and soaking everything in that they aren't hardly paying attention to the game. Hahaha!

A belated XMas present to the Vikings and Saints fans...

Well, I thank the Bears, BUT I'd rather have seen the Saints earn that home field on their own. I'm thrilled with what they've accomplished this year. I hope this translates into a team to be reckoned with in the future. But for now, they better snap out of their funk or they won't get beyond the first playoff game.

Hartley better be practicing his field goal kicks every single day between now and the playoffs.

i know hindsight is 20/20 but during last nights game when the vikings scored the touchdown with 22 seconds left, i thought they should have gone for 2. they had the bears on the ropes, 1 play, 2 yards. I'd take that over having to go to overtime, risking a loss of momentum, coin flip, etc. especially on the road.

The Vikings followed the rules:

Go for the tie on the road, go for the win at home.

I dont even think if they were at home they would go for it. For me its teams that have nothing to play for but a win that go for it at end of season then a team who has something to lose. If they had went for it not made it they could be really done as a team since you could lose you team that way, especially a D thats not looking to hot lately.

1 rule fits all? No way. Especially considering the Vikings second half momentum and that you have a HOF quarterback and 1 of the best RBs in the game.

I would have taken the risk and go for the win right there. It comes down to common sense to me. The right thing to do would have been to take advantage of a tired defense and punch it in with AP. Instead they elect to give the Bears defense a breather, risk the coin toss, etc.

Even if the Vikings had won the flip they probably need to drive 50-60 yards just to give their kicker a shot at a 45 yard field goal. To do that you need to average at least 3.33 yard per down for 10-20 plays.

Seems more likely that you can score from the 2 with AP or a bootleg with Favre than sustain a 10-20 play drive against a now rested defense.

It seems you are assuming that they will play well next week, but I don't think they will. They are in a funk, and just like you want teams who are "hot" to keep playing games so that they don't "lose their edge," I think it might be best for teams who are "cold" to take time off, regroup, and get prepared physically and psychologically for the playoffs.

If the Saints starters do play extensively next week, they're most likely going to play "badly" for an extra week. They actually have played 4 less than impressive games in a row, not 5, but it might well be 5 if they get embarrassed by a reinvigorated Carolina team, and then how will they feel going into the playoffs? Right now, they are playing pitifully. Everyone knows it, no one at ESPN expects them to get to the Superbowl, no one here does except JediMike (self included), etc. etc. They need to forget about those games. They have the offensive talent to beat any team in the playoffs, including the ballyhooed Chargers, Colts, and Eagles, but they need to get their head straight, and Sean Payton needs to remember what got them here. I don't think the starters potentially getting embarrassed by Carolina next week will help that.

My Five weeks is counting a bye week before there playoff game. So the last game they won was Dec 13 and if they dont play next week the starters will have not played a won game since then and dont play again until the 16th so thats almost 5 weeks. I didnt even take into consideration the 2 games that played bad and won since well at least they found a way to win and there is something to be said for that.

I agree that if they get embarrassed next week they will be one and done but I also say that if they dont play they will also be one and done. I think the only chance they have to get things going is to play well going into the bye week.

There biggest issue is there D is not that good and was a product of a fast starting O that got quick leads and made the other team predictable and much easier for a D to stop.
