Keep in mind LOTRFan, the Pats might pull a Colts and rest their starters at a certain point in the game. They already have clinched a playoff spot and will probably sit guys like Brady, Moss, Welker, Faulk, and possibly a few other starters. Maroney will probably be the RB for the entire game. They don't need any injuries to occur in a meaningless game to them...

They have clinched you're right; but they are battling with Cin for position.

Even with that, Belichick is keeping mum about pulling his starters out at some point though. He wants his guys healthy for the playoff push. He knows if Brady or any of his starters get hurt, they aren't going to have much of a chance in the playoffs at all and I don't think positioning is key at this point. You've got to keep in mind that Brady has been playing hurt for much of this season. There have been reports that he has been playing much of the season with a cracked rib and his fingers aren't fully healed from a previous injury. Brady is going to need some rest to be 100% more effective prior to the playoffs. I doubt Brady won't be playing at all, but at some point during the game...I'd imagine Belichick throwing Hoyer out there.

The only thing that concerns me about taking the Pats (even though I am NOT betting on them to win, only to get within 7.5 pts) is that they are miserable on the road.

Based on the outcome of this game, that could really be their undoing in the playoffs; they will have to win a big one away from Foxsboro.

Why You.............................Settle Down!.....................................:D

Umm....did you watch the 2nd half of the Vikes/Bears game? Favre almost single handedly won that game for them.

Here's the deal: Favre is just fine. The problem is our overrated offensive line has been lacking in pass protection over the past four weeks...............not to be confused with lacking in run blocking the whole year.:lol

true...what's been up with you guys line lately? Didn't Favre JUST have shoulder surgery? And they still won't block? I feel for ya though

I think that is a good point, though the argument could also be made that the O-line started playing really well in the second half of that game (I've said it before and I'll say it again--you give Jamarcus Russell Peyton Manning's offensive line, and he's an average-looking NFL QB, and he really sucks). Though this is by no means the Vikings' major problem right now, Peterson fumbling at such a critical time on Monday's game also has to be troubling.

According to N.F.L. Network this week Adrian Peterson has the most fumbles of any running back this season with 18 fumbles. He's a great running back...but...he's gotta hold on to that ball too!

Every Superman has their own kryptonite...

My pics for the week, I still haven't locked them in on my parlay card yet:

1) New Englad +7.5 at Houston

2) Eagles +2.5 at Dallas

3) Chargers -4.5 to Washington

4) Atlanta -2.5 in Tampa

I think the Bengals might cover against the Jets, +9.5 is a lot. :dunno

Cincy will be resting players so I wouldn't even count on them winning the game.

As troubling as:

1. A missed extra point on our first TD. Would have won the game when we scored with :04 seconds left.

2. Our defense giving up 4 TDs to Jay Cutler. Made him look like Joe Montana in the 1st half.

3. Our first half offense being run by coach Col. Klink a.k.a. Brad Childress. Netted us a whopping zero points. Favre took over in the 2nd half and put up 30 points.

4. Constant special teams breakdowns leading to huge kickoff returns.

5. The worst safety tandem in the NFL.

6. CB Antoine Winfield playing hurt. Someone sit him down please.

Well, like I said, it isn't the major or sole problem, but the Vikings offense really has worked because of the O-line and the threat of Peterson opening up the pass for Favre, IMO. Take Peterson out of the equation, and I'm not sure how intimidating that Vikings offense can be long-term. Regarding that specific issue, fumbling in pressure situations is bad business for a running back. To me, that's on a par with missing a clutch, chip shot field goal.

I'm not sure how much Vikings you've watched this year. This use to be a run to open up the pass team. Not anymore. When the ball is handed off to Peterson, the offense comes to a grinding halt. This team has turned into a pass to open up the run.

For that game, the fumble was an issue, not the major issue. The thing that's hurting my team the most right now is the offensive line, period.

Not to mention the fact that the jets winning will give a huge boost to the Steelers heading home for the post season. And Cincy would love that. I would not be surprised to see Cincy let that game go.

They've only shown a handful of Vikings games here, so I guess I can't speak to whether rush precedes pass (reality is probably a bit of both), but Adrian Peterson is 3rd in the league in rushing yards right now, first in terms of TDs. That is the offense coming to a grinding halt? Nothing has worked in the last few games for your team that they televised, excepting the 2nd half of the last game (and that was due to the Chicago defense being poo as much as anything).

As for the last game, the fumble put the final nail in the coffin, so I would say it was a pretty significant issue.
