Are you guys football fans? How can this even be a discussion. Philly has a precedence set for this type of event and they have never wavered from it. There is absolutely zero possibility that he will be booed during the introductions. I can even see a standing "O" for him.

And at halftime, a drunk fan will cause a physical confrontation with him which will enrage the crowd and then he will be "d" cell batteried damn near to death on his way in to the locker room at the end of the game.

EXACTLY! :rock

Now during the game? That's a different story. As soon as the clock starts ticking down he will be booed if he does anything positive. And if he is sacked? The crowd will roar with approval! :rock

Seriously Philly fans NEVER forget their stars. NEVER!

But. . .they booed him when he was their "star." That's the weird part to me, that makes me think they won't show him much love when he returns. He was not well appreciated for a big chunk of his time in Philly, rightly or wrongly, and fans didn't hesitate to let him know. I didn't get to see all that many Philly games, but when I did over the last couple of years, if McNabb didn't play well, they got on his ass.

So, maybe they will cheer. But it isn't like they universally loved and respected him while he was there playing for them.

I fear that hammer's gonna drop on Vick. He looks better than he is. Everyone is on the Vick bandwagon right now (how many analysts are saying he's the MVP of the league so far?). Let's see where they are in 3-4 weeks after he starts throwing INTs, fumbling, making stupid decisions, etc.

If the hammer drops I don't believe it will be for any of those reasons. He is playing better then almost every single QB in the NFL.

No I'm affraid when it drops it will be because he gets hurt.

Well, I saw him play a lot when he was with Atlanta, and I can't believe that he's changed all that much while in prison. We'll see.

These are also the same analysts saying CC Sabathia should win the Cy Young over Hernandez.

The majority of sports analysts are mental sub-humans.

Well, no pitcher has ever won the Cy Young Award with a winning percentage as bad as Hernandez. The current worst is a tie: Mike Scott and Roger Clemens who were .642 (18-10) in 1986 and 1991.

Hernandez is currently .520 (13-12).

Well the players and coaches seem to think so. That's all that matters.
The final analysis is all that matters. Players and coaches have attention spans about as long as the media does, and are just as susceptible to hype. There isn't a big enough "sample size" to tell us what Vick is really like yet. Of course, his sucking for the next 3 weeks or so wouldn't necessarily mean that he was a bust, either, but its gonna take more than beating up on weak/unprepared teams to convince me that he's different than what he was in the past.

I do think he gives the Eagles a good chance to win some games, but is he a pro bowl-level QB? I don't know about that.

As for Hernandez, that's the whole problem with going with a Yanks guy over him. ERA is more important than wins when it comes to a pitcher. This isn't football or basketball where one guy can single-handedly win a game. You can't win without runs in baseball.

Wins mean next to nothing when evaluating a pitcher's performance.

14 of CC's wins were against sub .500 teams including 10 wins vs. Baltimore, KC, and Seattle.

C.C. Sabathia: 21-7, 3.18 ERA, 197 K's, 74 BB's, 237.2 IP, 1.19 WHIP
Felix Hernandez: 13-12, 2.27 ERA, 232 K's, 70 BB's, 249.2 IP, 1.06 WHIP
