yea he's talking about the Bucs Giants game but the argument right now is that the Kneel down should be removed from the game and the offense should be forced to run a play so the defense can get a chance to get a turn over. jerry jones wants to put it to a vote actually.

Jerry Jones needs to go play in traffic.

The kneel down is part of the game, but it's still the game when it's happening. That's why you bring your big bodies out to surround your QB and protect him, and most teams put their best tackler from the D in their backfield, in case something happens and there is a turn over. There are zero freebies in this game, and Coughlin and Manning need to quit their crying about the Buccs rushing Eli on that kneel down, and Jerry Jones needs to worry about what's going to help those 'Boys of his win a meaningful game.

At first I thought that play was kinda garbage. However, the more I have thought about it, I respect it. If people are going to "kneel down" to run out the clock they should be prepared to take a beating for it. :lol

Exactly! And especially when the game is only a one score game. Yes, if the defense failed and their team is out of time outs and down by 2 scores, then it's pointless to "resist", so just let them kneel the clock out. That Giants/Buccs scenario was still a very winnable game for TB, so why wouldn't they rush Eli and try to force a turn over? In the words of Herm Edwards "You play to win the game." So why should they be expected to just let them kneel the clock out when there's plenty enough time to force a TO and give their O a chance to score?

I think Dan Marino made it clear years ago with the "fake spike" play, that nothing is a given in this game.

Wow, an NFL player out of money? Never heard that one before.

Vince Young's the latest.

"Young, they told Clay Travis, treated his offense at T.G.I. Friday’s several times a year, spending up to $6,000. He asked for a special drink, one unique to him, and the bartender duped him by serving a “Melon Ball,” more usually served to women patrons. At a Dave & Buster’s, he made a single order of 75 shots and rookies hid to stick him with the tab. At the team’s good-luck restaurant of choice, the Cheesecake Factory, LenDale White drank “1 1/2 bottles of Patron.”

Exactly how I feel about it. Gotta play full force until the play is dead.
A "fake" play can happen at anytime.

The kneel down is weak sauce.

IMO just like an incomplete pass stops the clock, make any play that goes for negative yardage stop the clock.

I agree with both arguments; however, playing devil's advocate:

1) Logic dictates that no "trick play" was in the works. The Giants had the lead. A kneel down seals the win. Why would the Giants have run a trick play there?

2) There were only five seconds left in the game. Had the Buccaneers plan worked, and the ball squirted free, by the time the refs sorted things out, time would have elapsed...unless the ball squirted out "cleanly" and a Bucs defender picked it up with a clear path to the end zone.

Again, I agree with both arguments, but Coughlin did come off as an old fuddy duddy. Schiano is trying to remake and reshape the persona of his team.

A funny note, on the drive home from work yesterday I heard a new radio ad from a local optometry chain that does LASIK. The radio ad began with the line "Attention all replacement refs..." :lol

On this, I am 90% sure that on a turnover even if there was 0 time left on the clock if the defense recovers they get a free play. I'm not sure if that is still the case if the recoverer tries to advance the ball.

I think a similar situation is if there is a punt with no time left if they call a fair catch they get 1 play.

Also, maybe if a team misses a field goal with no time left the other team can take 1 play.

:rotfl I think Denny Green's "they are who we thought they were" meltdown after losing to the Bears is still one my favorites.

Honorable mention to OSU's Mike Gundy and his "come after me, I'm a man. I'm 40!".:lol

:rotfl I forgot about that one.

What an embarrassment that clown was. Seriously, the Athlectic Director should have nut up and walked him out the door on the spot.

All great rants, but Herm Edwards had a consistent body of work. I just think he liked playing with the press, because he's kind of a loud mouth jerk as an analyst.
