Broken forearm, surgery tomorrow. That it happened on a PAT when they were up 30-something points sucks, but that's football.

Not every team plays one of their top 3 players on special teams. Poor roster management if they're in that scenario.

As loathe as I am to cite Peter King on anything, he has this to say re: Gronk being on the field:

Coaches have 45 active players each game. They don't have a "second team'' of the point-after-try unit. The PAT is one of the most risk-free plays in football. Rodney Harrison, the former Patriots safety now in the NBC studio with me on Sunday nights, didn't get taken off the kickoff team in routs. And Tony Dungy, who coached the Colts and Bucs, told me: "Jeff Saturday was my right guard on the PAT team, and I'd never think of taking him off. All my years in football, I never heard anyone, never heard Chuck Noll saying, 'Well, we better get Jack Ham off the PAT team.' It's not something I'd question."

Very common because TEs are usually pretty good blockers.

Thankfully it seems Hernandez is going to be back for Thursday. Hopefully Gronk heals up this latest issue and his other lingering problems and is ready to go in time for the playoffs.

I think its dumb as the Pats rely on their TEs more than any other team. Play your back ups on the PAs.

Yeah, this past weekend our stadium was only 1/2 filled. Sad.
