I mean, they are running a business so I get the approach. They set the price just below one on sale figure in hopes that you'll buy a second on sale figure to get a third free. Fortunately for me, I was already heading in to get Hunter and Echo so it worked out great for me. Wouldn't have bought a second Dark Trooper at 50% off or more, but I'll flank Gideon free of charge!

Thanks for this, admittedly I hadn’t read all this before I put my order in last night. Glad the free figure will only be valued at $30 for customs purposes (I’m in the UK), but really should be valued at $0. Seems very harsh on Canadians that it’ll be valued at full RRP!


Still, coupled with the $65 in Rewards I got through Spooktacular, I’ll be getting Thrawn and the Dark Trooper for sub £230

In the ideal world it would be $0, though since I don't trust FedEx, or any other courier to do work out the VAT correctly, the low value is the safer option.

With the way Sideshow tend to construct their invoices, showing full retail prices along with the discounts applied, FedEx would've been liable to ignore the discount and charge VAT on the full price as they've done in the past.

This way it limits the extra charge to $6, rather than a possible $53.

I'm just trying to imagine how many of these Endgame Avenger and Mando figures HT produced to have them hanging around as long as they have at pretty decent discounts. There are easily 15-20 figures that could be part of this 100% giveaway over the next two months...

Oh nuts, they got me. I have kinda wanted the dark trooper for awhile so I got this and venom. I feel mixed about it as I have been trying to be really disciplined on what I get for space reasons. I am hoping I don’t regret it. I did the last time I got one where I got a free captain marvel. Though to be fair, dark trooper is much more appealing than captain marvel

I have noticed that they have loosened up with these promos. It used to be that you would have to lay full price for the other figure. But I got venom with a discount. And it used to be that you couldn’t use flex play but I had no trouble this time. It sounds like sideshow is really wanting to get rid of all these long in-stock items.

That is consistent with what I thought their strategy likely was which was to entice someone to buy two discounts figures to get a third. Lucky for me I went in to get Hunter and Echo and got the pleasant surprise. Most aren't going to have it work that well unless there's a discount pair they're also looking for...

this isn't the firs time the rules are changed. At first, you could get a $250 gift card and claim the dark trooper. I missed out on that but that would have been amazing...and not really help Sideshow clear their warehouses.
