I fear Carolina will go after him. They do like taking in losers and rejects...smh. Although it'd probably be a slight improvement, I hope it doesn't come to that.

Yeah, that's a good choice too. Both teams have had Super Bowl aspirations over that same period of time.

Still don't know why Schottenheimer was fired from San Diego after going 14-2 years ago. I know that playoff loss at home to New England was crushing but come on! :gah:

Ya see it happen from time-to-time that coaches get canned for no apparent reason. I always wonder at that.

He could NEVER make it over that hump. That was his best chance with the Chargers and still failed.

Its starting to grow on me. Similar to the 2 pt conversion no one is going to go for it unless they are behind in the 4th quarter, so for the most part it will be moot. Not that much difference between punts and kickoffs, still plenty of chance for exciting punt returns.

So with that in mind those potential 4th quarter comebacks actually begin to intrigue me, rather than the onside kick they have to play the 4th and long. The 15 yrds seems arbitrary though. Why not jut the standard 10? 4th in 10 is still tough enough to prevent teams from taking that chance regularly.

My only issue with the 4&15 is the very quick flags they throw, next thing you know it's first down.
