I would love to see a Blues Habs final.
There would some poetic cosmic justice about a final like that.
i don't think the Blues have what it takes to make it through the playoffs. besides, there won't be any room for the Habs in the finals cuz the Pens will be in that slot.:yess:

I think the Habs have more depth than the Pens this year. Ultimately, I think it's going to be between the Habs, Flyers, and Bruins. In the West, my thinking is the Red Wings will be strong enough to make a serious run at another cup.

If the Bruins play on all cylinders, with no serious injuries, and get Savard back, I would not want to meet them in he playoffs.

I can't wait for Savard to get back. When Seguin moves to the wing I'd love to see him with Savard. It'll be much better than seeing guys like Daniel Paille passing the puck behind him on breaks into the offensive zone.:slap

QFT :rock :rock

Who wants to watch that snoozefest that is Habs playoff hockey anyway

But, the game on Tuesday was the best game Ive seen teh Habs play in years. The pace was good, there was some good hitting, greats saves and even a dust up or two

Depth?? at what? and where? goal tending is the only place they are better than the Pens. When Staal is healthy you cant make that statement. Please dont be a typical Habs radio caller and plan the parade, yes they played well as of late ( caught the Bruins and Flyers coming off back to backs) but lets not get carried away

Why is it when the Habs do well, it's either because of luck or because of one player? However, when the Pens aren't in first, out come the series of excuses. The Habs have been in first place overall in the East or in their division for most of the season, which is 25% done. At what point, according to you, does luck turn into actual talent? Also, since the Pens haven't been in first at all, when do we start acknowledging their limitations?

P.S. If the Habs continue to play this well, and there's no reason to believe they won't, the Pens won't stand a chance against them (or the Flyers or Bruins). The Pens are a few moves away from being the team they were just a couple of years ago.

It's amazing how good Milan Lucic has looked now that he's fully healthy. This could be the year where he finally meets his offensive potential.

Rask looked great tonight. He was the reason why they stayed in this until the offensive explosion in the last few minutes.

Also, Shawn Thornton=Sniper.:lol

I can easily acknowledge the Habs are in first and that they have played well, and that the Pens need to play better. I just hope if its the reverse in April you do the same.
But dude, can you honsetly tell me that they didnt get lucky in the playoffs last year and that they didnt play some of the most boring playoff hockey since the Devils and Panthers?? Cmon man, Ill be the first to admit the Pens arent going to waltz there way to the cup. Leading the east after 25 games is doesnt mean you need to plan the parade either.

i was watching the Bruins game for about 2 periods but then i got a little bored and decided to get a quick nap in before work. then the Bruins bust the game wide open and i missed it. how typical for me. looks like Tuukka Rask was on fire. good for him.

Good luck Yzerman, resign Stamkos and Hedman and stay under the cap with Vinnies contract

Vinnie's 10 million contract is going to kill the Lightning.
He hasn't even played like a 3 million dollar player since it was signed.
These long term high dollar contracts are insane.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. In the next CBA, the league should try and implement the ability to cut players loose at no cost to the team like they do in the NFL. Players have to be made accountable for not playing up to their contract.

I actually like the Pens. I rarely, if ever, slam them. My thinking is that as long as they need help on the wing and in goal, and that Malkin continues to look remarkably unremarkable, they will likely continue to appear as a .500 hockey club. Teams do not seem to be intimidated by them as much, or anymore.

As for the playoffs last year.... I thoroughly enjoyed the Habs playoff run. Those comebacks from behind to beat the presidents trophy winners and the former stanley cup champs were thrilling. I'm not sure why you need to minimize these accomplishments. The Habs did exactly what they needed to do to win. In my book, that's stellar coaching. The pens and caps simply didn't do enough. It's that simple. You almost make it sound like the Habs cheated or something.

As for luck... I believe you might get lucky in a game here and there... but luck doesn't win you two series in a row. That's just silly sour grapes. Excuses and a $1 will get you a cup of coffee. That's it.

As for playoff time, what would make you believe I wouldn't credit any team its due? I'm a natural born Bruins hater, and I've been praising them all season.

While on the subject of genuine praise, what is so wrong with praising the Habs for their great start? Is it against the law or something? It's great to see the Habs doing as well in the standings. Why, again, minimize these accomplishments? I mean, even if the Habs were to win the cup, we'd have to drag you kicking and screaming just to recognize that the refs weren't paid off or that every team they played against lost because they didn't show up or were hampered by endless injuries.

I know it sounds like sour grapes but it isnt, if anything Im mad a Fleury and some guys for not trying. The Habs played hard in every series and I guess hard work gets you good bounces and crappy goals. But the bottom line then and now, is that they are not that good. They went on good streak that came to a crashing halt when they got embarrassed by the Flyers (shutout in the 3 games). Problem is all these Habs fans (im not grouping you in this unless you call 990) think they are contenders when they arent. Caps, Flyers, Bruins and Pens everyone else is going o be jockeying for the last 4 spots in the east. They are an inconsistent team with some talent but they are still two big pieces away.

What also bothers me is that Habs shouldnt be fluking there way anywhere, they are a hockey dynasty and should be built to win every year and sadly thats not the case.

Listen I would like to see the Habs do well (if the Pens cant) I just hate when they put a small streak together and all of a sudden they are world beaters. If the Habs team from Tuesday played like that 75% of the time, they would be great to watch.

They have played well so far, lets hope they can add another piece with Markovs money and get consistent

and RIP in Pat Burns

An interesting stat on a player that I found to be interesting...

Phoenix forward Lauri Korpikoski has 5 goals and 10 points in his last 11 games despite scoring only 11 points in 71 games last season, and 14 points in 68 games the season prior with the Rangers.

Do we have another Mike Knuble and Jason Blake in the making?

Knuble: 5 goals and 14 points to 30 goals and 59 points and Blake: 8 goals and 18 points to 25 goals and 55 points. Guys that went from bottom feeders to top six. Kinda neat.

Not totally surprising for Lauri. He's a former 1st round selection (19th overall) and scouts and the teams he played for said he has amazing speed and a great skillset.

Crosby had a wide open net but he decided to pass through the crease over to kennedy so he could score. what a guy.

Sidney Crosby is amazing on so many levels. The guy is on pace for more than the 51 goals he scored and he has crap for wingers. Sure, he played with Evgeni Malkin tonight... finally! Having said that, his two main guys are Chris Kunitz and Pascal Dupuis. That is his wingers on a regular basis. One is a 2nd line NHLer (and not a great one at that), and the other (Dupuis) has no business even being in a top six position. Imagine what he would do with real line mates. Testament is how his line produced 8 points with Malkin on board last night. Truly an amazing hockey talent. It's not just because of his production averaging over 110 points per season (prorated) or all his past individual and team accolades, but his sheer will to win. The fact he sticks up for his teammates the way he does, and makes the plays like the one you mentioned.

There is absolutely no good reason to hate on this kid. So what if he whined. He was a kid, and so what if he does. Like we're all perfect and incapable of doing similar stuff. It's so easy to point the finger when it's someone else. Yes, I can be lumped into that bunch as well. Although I admit I am not perfect. If whining is his worst attribute and the reason for the hate... then frankly I feel sorry for those people.

No. 87 is awesome! :fireworks
