I think we can all agree the game delivers in the visuals.

How grindy is it? How talky is it? When I think jrpg, I think of tons of long dialogue scenes with talking heads, tons of tedious battling to level up, goofy characters and humor etc. These things more or less define the sub genre in my mind. Is this any different?

TBH grinding so far hasn't been bad at all. I don't think I have ended up having to run around and level up yet. I'm not real far into the game so that might change. Their is quite a bit of dialogue, but thats pretty standard in all RPGs not just JRPGS imo. Characters and humor if you have ever seen a Studio Ghibli film and you enjoyed those characters then you will enjoy these. Not a ton of humor, but when their is its perfect timing. Seriously give the demo a try you will get a feel for the type of game it is. Just know if you do try it the battle system won't be as complex since you won't have all your different familiars and or different spells.

My Wizard's Edition finally shipped. I don't know why they couldn't ship it by the actual release date, like normal people, but I guess I should just be glad my order wasn't canceled like some.

I was really hoping to be able to play it this weekend. So much so that I was very tempted to go out and buy a regular copy of the game this morning just so I could start playing.

just got my Wizard Edition :D now waiting for my PS3 to arrive :D

just a shame that it doesn't include the coin, artcards and the soundtrack selection cd :(

I quite enjoyed the demo but not sure how long the enjoyment would last seeing as it wasn't a hugely diverse demo for what is claiming to be a big game.

So, simply put....Ni No Kuni or Ni Yes Kuni for someone who is a fan of regular RPG's (Skyrim, Fallout) and Pokemon but has never played a 'proper' JRPG before?

It's essentially pokemon with a "real-time" combat system, so yes? It's nothing like Skyrim, and I haven't played enough fallout to compare it. You should try a jrpg sometime though, you might really like them, why not this one.

If you like Ghibli that's another big plus for picking it up.

Plus the score is epically fantastic, as expected of Joe Hisaishi. I wonder why they didn't bother translating the title like they do Ghibli movies? I guess "Second Country" and "The Another World" don't sound as good in English?

I'm so jealous of you guys who managed to get the Wizard Edition. I didn't know about the preorder until after it was all sold out. :slap

I got lucky with it. I just happened to be browsing IGN one day and they were mentioning that the more people who ordered the Wizard's Edition, the more goodies would be included with it. I had never heard of the game but when I read that Studio Ghibli did the cutscenes I decided to order.

I received mine on Thursday and I'm having fun with the game so far.
