Re: Nintendo 3DS

When I got to my gamestop for the midnight release, there was a huge line ahead of me. I went to the counter to pay off my balance and their computers crashed for 10 minutes before 12. So I stood there and waited, and once the computers went up, the sales guy laughed and said I'd be the first to get my system because he was in the middle of my transaction and wasn't gonna send me to the back of the line since the line got 3 times as long while I was waiting. :clap:clap

Played some Pilotwings and SSFIV. Both are pretty decent. I need to keep the 3d at around half or a quarter so my eyes dont hurt. that's ok, because I think the games look better when the effect is more subtle.

If you're a SF traditionalist, configure your Pro controller settings with PPP at shortcut 2 and KKK as shortcut 4. Doesn't feel like you're cheating that way :hi5:

Re: Nintendo 3DS

I got mine at midnight, There were about 8-10 people in at the store including me. A lot more blue purchases than black. went home and was pretty tired after waiting for it to charge fully so I only got to play it for a little bit.

After setting up the hardware I made a Mii (which I'll upload to my pc and post later when I get a chance) and tried out the AR cards first which are are nice enough diversions.

Ridge Racer is the same Ridge Racer we've known since 2005. Fun arcade racing but probably short on lasting appeal. The 3D was actually really nice. It's hard to describe for RR, but it's like the entire course pulls inward and creates a surreal tunnel effect and whenever a rival car pulls up next to you or behind it pops out of the screen. After about 15 minutes, my eyes were still okay and I had no headache, which is fortunate considering I wear glasses and don't exactly have the best eyes.

In a bit I'm going to head out to Toys R Us to pick up SSFIV3d and Pilotwings (at 50% off). :D

What color did you get bro? I heading over to GS soon and I have a black one on order and my wife has a blue but she's been thinking of changing it to black. :dunno Thanks man.

Re: Nintendo 3DS

I'm sorry but the 3DS has no launch game worth owning or one that makes me wish I own the system. They are all pretty lackluster or poorly rated. Ridge Racer, Ray Man, PilotWings, for real?

Re: Nintendo 3DS

Well the system wasn't released soley for you. I happen to be enjoying all the games I bought. They aren't amazing but they are good. But thanks for stopping by.

Re: Nintendo 3DS

Just picked up my black 3DS. Excited to play through Ghost Recon Shadow Wars since it's supposedly similar to Metal Gear Acid.

Went with the black!

Then you know what? You should probably skip out on the launch if there is not a game that interests you. I think it's as simple as that.

I think saying stating that all of the games are poorly rated is an exaggeration and largely untrue. I can't speak for the tastes of others, but there are a few gems on the launch list, and if you can't see it there's not really anything anyone can do to incentivize the 3DS for you at the moment.

Yeah I agree. Seeing the people in line with me at midnight and the large group of people at Toys R Us this morning when I went to pick up some games, the 3ds has something in its launch for everybody. I like what I bought and feel that it is worth the investment.

edit: pics with the games I got at TRU this morning. The black is very nice. It has a subtle glitter and gradient on the lid that I couldn't capture with my camera.

Excuse the air bubbles on the screen. I just applied a screen protector and haven't yet pushed out the bubbles.

Re: Nintendo 3DS

I just picked up my 3DS at Gamestop. My girlfriend went with me and played with the demo unit and it swayed her opinion. She now wants one and Street Fighter.

Went to Toys R Us and got Nintendogs and Pilotwings. Wanted Street Fighter and Lego Star Wars but they haven't gotten their shipment of those in yet. I could pick them up elsewhere but I want the BOGO 50% deal. The deal goes on until April 2nd and the guy anticipated they'd arrive before then. If not, oh well I'll get them full price when the deal is up.

Re: Nintendo 3DS

Got my new black charging now. I like the look of it in person. Very stylish and sleek. I picked up Ghost Recon. Hear it's pretty good.

My buddy got it from Gamefly, he said out of the four games he has played so far it's the most entertaining one.

~~Good to see that the Toys R Us sale is good until next Saturday because I get paid on the first. Looks like I'll be going to buy a couple of games.

Re: Nintendo 3DS

That's what I'm hearing too. Turn based strategy games are always very hit and miss with me, but I like the look of it and these types of games always translate well to handhelds. I have no doubt that SF is a good port, but I'm SF'd out. I'm done with SF for now hehe.

Re: Nintendo 3DS

I feel the same way. SF is getting a bit stale IMO. 4 came out in '09, then came Super, now we're getting handhelds. I think I might pass on it until I get bored with the console versions.

Re: Nintendo 3DS

Getting my blue system from Amazon tomorrow. I picked up Bust-a-Move today with a giftcard from Gamestop and the retail price is only $29.99. :)

Still haven't figured out what I'll buy with the $25 credit from Amazon. I'm actually leaning towards Ghost Recon since it seems the most adult and is produced by a very famous strategy game producer.

Re: Nintendo 3DS

Picked up the blue for my daughter today, she's quite happy with it. I had bonus points for the preorder, and when they come in she wants the new lego clone wars, but she's also eying the lego pirates and zelda games as well. It is much more of an aqua colour, but she likes it.

Just saying it's quite a weak lineup. Now when they have an original Metroid and a Zelda game, as well as some third party games that aren't 3D versions of past games then sign me up. I want to see what they will do with the FPS genre on this system. I heard rumblings that HVS is working on a Conduit 3DS. Which in theory sounds like it has potential.

Launch lineups are notoriously weak. Nothing new here. This will eventually have a million games like all of Nintendo's handhelds, but of course will take time.

After playing with mine for about an hour, I'm confident in the system's abilities and potential.

Re: Nintendo 3DS

Picked up the Black system with 4 games and a pack.

Went in to work today think I would see a big line waiting outside for the store to open, but when I got there no one was lined up. Not until the last 2 minutes before we opened, a line of 3 started...but they were all from the same car.

All together I think 5 Blue and 8 Black sold when I left at 3pm. Games were the main seller, but even then those went kinda slow.
