Alright guys n gals. If you don't already know, i'm huge into video games when i'm not at work or staring at my collectables. I just bought my wife a Nintendo DS lite and she loves it. Seeing how happy it makes her, i've decided to get a portable myself.

This leads to the question. Which should I buy? A PSP or a DS lite? Both have their perks, both are different. Could you guys help me out by giving me your opinion if you have one of these, or even if you don't?

I've owned both and the DS Lite got way more playtime from me. The PSP had too many shrunk down PS2 games for my taste. I think the DS Lite is better as the games are easy to pick up and play, and put down just as fast. There are virtually no load times like the PSP has and the battery life is much longer. If you want deep gameplay then the PSP may be for you, but I think portable gaming is all about instantaneous gratification and most DS games have that in spades.

Bottom line: DS Lite hands down.

DS, if you like PLAYING video games.

Not talking smack about PSP, it's ok, but I never have any fun with mine, I sold it. I have an mp3/video player and I didn't like any of the games.

IMO the DS has much better games and a longer life span. There's a reason they had to lower the price on the PSP.

DS lite all the way. I've had both and the PSP got the boot. It was boring and clunky. PSP was overhyped and it fails in just about every aspect. While my DS goes just about everywhere and is as solid as a rock. :)

PSP is failing while DS is thriving. Like VHS and Beta. Sure Beta was superior to VHS, but sales wise and library wise, like the VHS had Beta beat, the DS has that over the PSP. I think it rather foolish to invest into a PSP now. If it's even available this time next year in stores and if it is, it will be on clearance for peanuts!

i outgrew my mario phase after the SNES.

any other games?

I own a PSP and enjoy the system for was it is. I have pictures downloaded, mp3 music stored, and access to WiFi internet connectivity it boasts. Plus I have a short list of movies that I own on UMD and it's great for travelling when I'm sick of playing games (although I'm hooked on Star Wars Lego 2).

The DS Lite is a great system and all. But when it came down to choosing between the two. It wasn't a matter of who had Mario and who didn't. It was all about my needs in a portable system. PSP had them. If you can get by some of the slow load times in the games, then this might be a great system for you.

I use my PSP almost daily as an MP3 player. I only use it for games when I wanna play some GTA. Still waiting for other PSP games to grab me.

Heavily leaning towards the DS. It's kickin major arse in the poll. I appreciate everybody's comments! Keep them comin. With the results so far, I guess I shoulda asked from the beginning what color to get: black or white? :D

many people like the DS but no one posted what games are good. I guess the DS is only good for looking at and not playing games. :lol

Well all i've seen so far on the DS that I bought my wife is New Super Mario, Big Brain Academy and a Spyro game. I really like the look of Hotel Dusk, Room 215.

I'm still looking for convincing on the PSP though, all people have said here is about the MP3 and video aspect. I'm into gaming for the most part, so any more info on the gaming aspect would be great.
