I was very fortunate to get a Wii for my niece at Toysrus online in Canada.
They delivered it 10 minutes ago. My poor brother in law had given up trying to get one. I used a Wii tracker and lucked out.

Merry Christmas to all who somehow found a Wii for Christmas.

I've played a friends of mine now a couple times since they got it for x-mas. I'm getting me one!!

I have Zelda, but haven't had a chance to really get into it. Other games keep getting in the way. But I'm really looking forward to it!

Best game I've played in the last 5 years. I loved every second of playing that game (of course LoZ is my favorite franchise so I'm a bit biased)

I got Mario Galaxy for X-Mas...wow this game is amazing. When a Mario platformer comes out, it always demands attention. This one takes some tried and true methods but completely flips it around with the gravity and running around whole planet-like stages.

Once again, Mario rules!!! :rock

Mario Galaxy is the ****! Me and the wife had been playing togehter (lives or levels) and its a blast! We're at 62 and lovin' it... but the Freeze Flame galaxy was a pain in the ass

HELL YES !!! Greatest franchise EVER !!!!

Just wish I had the time to play it

Just got home from playing like 4 hours of Super Mario Party 8 and it's phenomenal. For something so simply as a interactive board game with challenges, we were getting into it; it's hilarious.

I hate to be the downer here ... but I have had the system since launch last year ... and it's not all roses and kisses. Don't get me wrong, the last-gen graphics don't bother me. Hell, I bust out computer games from the 90's all the time. The problem is quality and quantity of games. I played the machine non-stop (well, as "non-stop" as I could with work) for around a month and a half. Then I finished Zelda and got tired of the few other launch games I bought. It sat in my game cabinet untouched for 3 months until Metroid came out. Once I finished that, it sat in my cabinet again for 5 months until Mario came out. I have deliberately not finished Mario yet. Because I want a reason to keep using the system. Nearly every 3rd party game released last year was crap. Only a few like Zak and Wiki and Resident Evil Chronicles were worth buying. Nintendo makes amazing games ... but they can't carry the system alone (just look at the 64). Sales in Japan have already dropped due to the good gaming drought. Here's hoping that the New Year will bring more games to make owning a Wii more advantageous.

yep, sounds like a Nintendo system. I wouldn't recommend anyone only have the Wii...it's a PERFECT second system that is a blast to own when you have parties and when Nintendo releases their own games for the system. problem is that if past releases of their main franchises on their other systems is any indication we may not see another mario or zelda for the Wii.

You can always sell it and make a decent profit!:monkey3:D

Not my point. I own all of the systems - hell, I have owned every major system since the Genesis except the Jaguar and NEO GEO due to pricing during my youth. I don't say this out of bravado or to boast. It's just to create a backdrop to what I am going to say (and, probably a side-effect of my OCD lol). I own every system so I can play the best games. Which system do I use more often now? The 360. Does that mean I don't want my PS3 or Wii? No. I just wanted to point out that the Wii needs to move past the hype and sale figures and create more AAA titles. I personally expect at least 20 great games from a system over its 3 to 5 year life span to validate it's existence in my eyes. The 360 is already half way there. PS3 is at 4 (7 if you include cross-platform titles). Wii is all the way back there at 3 - Mario Galaxies, Zelda, and Metroid. Nintendo has amazing rose from the ashes of the Cube ... now it's time to put that resurrection to good use. Give us more classics ... remind us of the Golden SNES days. Force the 3rd parties to create more than sub-standard ports of PS2 and Gamecube games.

We will see another Zelda ... rumors are it's already in development. But Mario is Miyamoto's baby. He's not going to create another game unless he comes up with a concept that excites him ... and Nintendo won't force him to. I actually like this. Why churn out Galaxies 1.5? Save the character til you come up with some new fun way of gaming.

Nintendo really needs to get off their arses and create some new IPs. Zelda and Mario are great, but give me something fresh designed around the motion sensing and other advantages of the system (Zak and Wiki is a good example of this).

I agree that there is far more crap as opposed to quality games out there for the Wii. This is kind of what the PS2 suffered from when it was on top, too many developers rushing games to make a quick buck. Here's a quick list of somewhat recent titles for you guys to check out of you're hurting for new games:

Trauma Center New Blood
Zak and Wiki
Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles
Ghost Squad
Medal of Honor Heros 2
NiGHTS Journey of Dreams
Guitar Hero 3
Geometry Wars Galaxies
MLB Power Pros

Don't forget older games you may have passed as well. To name a few (these can probably be bought used for cheap):

Elebits
The Godfather
Scarface
Trauma Center Second Opinion
Metal Slug Anthology
Sonic and the Secret Rings

if it is development that means another 3 years....if we do see another one on the wii, i'll bet it's similiar to TLP...but I'm not complaining about that at all. I agree with your point about Mario although one per system does suck but as long as they are stellar i'm good with it.

you're right, nintendo needs to come up with some new stuff, taking into account the motion controllers.

I mean no offense by this response, but I am not going to pull any punches commenting about the games you listed. It's not personal.

Trauma Center New Blood - Retread of a game I got tired of playing on the DS.

Zak and Wiki - Truly a great game.

Resident Evil 4 - Another great game, but I already finished it on the Cube and PS2 ... so Wii gets no credit for this masterpiece.

Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles - Also own this one. It's fun, but not a classic.

Ghost Squad - another formulaic rail shooter.

Medal of Honor Heroes 2 - heard decent things about this, but I didn't buy the Wii for FPS shooters. My PC and 360/PS3 outclass this category on the Wii by miles.

NiGHTS Journey of Dreams - Just a retread of a game I finished on the Saturn years ago.

Guitar Hero 3 - Defective (most of the disc minted in the first month of production output in mono ... NOT stereo ... for a music based game :monkey1). Also, it's the 3rd best version of the game.

Geometry Wars Galaxies - Just a retread of a game I bought and finished on the 360 2 years ago for 30 dollars less.

Elebits - While not a classic, this was one of the few launch games I liked. They took advantage of the motion sensing ... just didn't take it far enough.

The Godfather - done better on the PC.

Scarface - Played and finished (well, got tire of it) on the PC over a year before the Wii was released.

Trauma Center Second Opinion - port of a DS game with minimal additions.

Metal Slug Anthology - horrendous port of arcade classics with 7 control setups - which ALL suck. Get it for the PSP instead. Also, the graphics look horrible on a big screen television.

Sonic and the Secret Rings - no where near the classics of old, but fun in a nostalgic way.

This list of games illustrates my main gripe with the Wii. Other than the big N's powerhouses, all of the other games are ports of games ... most of which were done better on their first systems - and all of which are so old, most people have already played them. Give me some new properties that excite ... not a shoddy re-release of a classic I am finished with.

To each their own, I guess. I really enjoyed all those. The ports of older games usually have added motion sensing or IR control which really enhanced the games, imo.

I'm with you though on the idea that there needs to be some new IP's on the Wii. It's really a shame about what's going on with Zak and Wiki; a 3rd party finally releases a new quality game and they are repaid with meager sales and no hype.

I heard somewhere that Nintendo is assigning some it's own employees to assist 3rd parties release quality games. This is a good thing, but I fear it won't matter. For whatever reason, 3rd parties are doomed to failure on Nintendo platforms (handhelds not included).

For Xmas between the wife, my one son and myself we scored:

Guitar hero 3
star wars lego trilogy
Mario Galaxy
Mario Vs. Sonic Olympic
Zelda
Playground
smarty pants
Pacman (forget the actual title of the game)
Transformers
Fantastic Four

Not to shabby!!!!

Also got Call of Duty and Unreal 3 for PC

Guitar hero is all that and a bag of chips. I beat easy last night and made my first attempt at medium. I still rocked on the first song, but wow.. what a difference! On medium does everyone use their pinkies on the blue key or do most people slide up and down? I haven't even cracked zelda open yet, but Im looking forward to it.
