I don't believe it was. If you saw what people posted on his twitter, I don't think I'd take that kind of abuse for ratings.
it's because of the stuff they did different, like they always cut to commercials when a new girl is crowned but this time they wouldn't cut. Or how the runner up is meant to go backstage for a moment, or how long it took to get it fixed, how long it took for Steve to realize. an event this big is very very calculated. a mistake like this would have been fixed in seconds, not lingered for minutes like it did.
and she was saying that even the way it was recorded, the cameras should have cut to commercial if it was a real mistake because she said when she was in the contest there was something that went wrong but people at home that year never found out (something small went wrong) they automatically cut if there is something that needs fixing.
so when you have thecameras keep rolling and you have Steve mumbling for minutes, and no one is going on stage to tell the girl she is not the winner, all that is extremely suspicious
That would mean that an awfully lot of people would have to be privy to the results.
You also can't get higher ratings AFTER the fact.
well the event is very controlled, they would have either cut to commercial or correct the winning. there is no way it would have gone as far as crowning the girl, thats what the girl was saying, that crown would have never touched her head because they would have gone to commercial. (she said backstage is pretty strict with things)

Young couple (~ 22 years old) tried to take selfie with the snow sculpture of a male reproductive organ... and it fell down on them. The incident occurred in the village of Mikhailovskoye, Altai region. The sculpture was built by employees of a local sawmill: construction involved heavy machinery and, according to preliminary data, a fir timber was walled inside with exterior doused with water. The sculpture could melt at the base due to changes in temperature. Presumably, this is what caused the tragedy. According to another version, the guy actually tried to climb the statue in order to put a hat on its "head".
