Can't wait to see the doiley shots.

My Han just arrived. I won't be photographing him until I've tweaked his paint.

But the only thing I see to do is touch up the hairline, and maybe add some lighter hair highlights with drybrushing. The face came out of the factory just great. They're finally letting the sculpt catch light without any wash "help" like with Luke's upper eyelids. This is a big step up for Sideshow's factory paints. I wonder if Tom Gilliland went over to China to kick some @ss?

As others have noted, the puffy look is much less pronounced in person. It's still one sculptor's interpretation of Han, and other interpretations might have a more callow look, but it's really an awfully good interpretation. It couldn't be anyone else.

Despite some pre-delivery misgivings...this line is very much on track, IMO. Han Solo is a winner. And Sideshow's factory paint ops are serving the sculptor well, instead of burying him.

Han was here and now he's gone ... I promised him to someone. The jacket was noticeably off-center, and the head still looked big (but I am starting to think it is the features). Other than those two quick observations the figure looked pretty good.

HAN AT FIRST BLUSH

Ok, Han is here. First of all it took me all of 20 seconds to crack him open, everything arrived mint, box, shipper, figure, etc.

Of course the Mynock had to be removed first and I was pleased to see he is made of a soft vinyl (was expecting hard plastic) and it seems his wings are a bit bendable, also his size and paint apps are really impressive.

Then I got to Han of course. My first impression was of the sculpt, it is indeed Harrison Ford, especially around the eyes. The paint apps on mine were really good and he looks different from so many angles, some of which are really accurate, e.g. looking down on him from above and a few side angles, also with a dead on head tilted slightly to right as in Roy's iconic pose he is Han Solo and especially from the back of the head. LOL. The hairline on one side needs a retouch but other than that the paint colors and application are far superior to Ani, especially the lips and eyebrows, the brows were nailed this time. I couldn't find much if any pudge in his face, this may have been corrected in the curing process or final prod sculpt -- although his cheeks sit a bit high on his face, there was only very minor puffiness and at some angles, none at all.

My jacket seems ok, it hangs over his belt from behind and is indeed scrunched up a bit around the shoulders. The rest of his outfit also fits very well but there is plenty of extra fabric bunched in the crotch area so a redress and his pants will look even better.

I haven't gotten to fitting his belt and weapons yet but I can safely say the belt detail is far more intricate and film accurate than I was expecting and I truly feel Collectors are gonna like him more than they expected...

Extras: The decorative box is beautiful

Jacket will need ironing and the entire figure will need redressing but this is far better than I expected.

Here's a couple (actually quite a few) pics I took of the Sideshow Han. It's really hard to capture how he looks in person. I would look at it with my eyes, and then look through the camera lens and it looked entirely different. I'm no pro, but here's my photos.

The hairline is incredibly noticeable in the pictures, but not so much in real life. This figure had me the most worried, and I might have come in with low expectations, but I really think Sideshow did a good job with it. It solidified my faith in Sideshow's ability with these figures, and I won't be worried on any future releases.

I just cracked open my Han and he looks 100x better in person than in the pictures. For everyone who is complaining about the likeness just wait until you see it in person... its fantastic.

I unfortunately have to wait until Monday.

I still think he looks subpar to me. I will have to wait until the 28th for mine but I am very very nervous about this one. It looks worse than the anakin, and that's saying a lot. All of the pictures I have seen make his head look abnormally large and his cheeks are still pudgy as ever. The jacket is way off tailored. Again, it looks as though I am going to have to settle. This saddens me because I was running a good streak with action-figure quality, such as the Hot Toys Superman, Hot Toys Robocop, Hot Toys Kyle Reese, Takara Batman, and the Cy Girls Catwoman.

Cheers,

Brad

Absolutely true!!!
It is sooo total twilight zone-y -- he looks different thru the camera lens than in person and there is absolutely no explanation for it that I can fathom -- didn't happen with Luke or Ani but with Han you get a 20% distortion. :google

I recommend no-one make any judgments about this piece until you have him in hand. :D

I've noticed that happens with Matt Falls sculpts alot. Plus they always look better on angles than face on.

Adam just sent me an email that both Han and Mace will ship to me in 1-2 weeks!!! I can't wait to actually have him IN HAND!!:chew

Are those his eyebrows or does he have stiches? Yikes. Maybe its because its such a closeup picture, but personally I don't think they look good at all.

I've noticed that with quite a few recent figures. I don't remember older figures having eyebrows that looked like that.

Some things need to be viewed from the proper distance to truly appreciate them.

These up close shots aren't showing Han in the appropriate way. The eyelashes look good sitting on the shelf at 1/6 scale. Blown up giant sized on our monitors they don't look so hot.
