And I agree that it's not really needed. He came out of the box looking damned good. I think he's a quality figure, and iwas very pleased with him. But I love to paint, so...

Yes, this is a fantastic sculpt.
And I have now found my newest crusade in hopes of perfecting the figures in this line: SSC needs to find new factory painters. The paint apps are hampering these beauties, too!

I see what you're saying, but you gotta keep in mind that these guys are very limited as to what they can do. Me, I've got the time and the desire to make it as best I can. I can spend the afternoon putting 50+ seperate paint applications on each head. The factories can't really do that. No factory can.

Great work!!! I agree that the new paint job makes the sculpt looks much much better but the sculpt is still off in my opinion. Maybe if you can tweek the cheeks like Les did on the Anakin....hmm..... The new paint on the hair and eyes really make the figure looks much more lifelike. Great job!!! I am impressed.

I understand that Mikey... but the differences between the factory paint apps and yours are not minor. It's night and freakin' day. That looks like an entirely different sculpt!
Of course we could not expect a factory job to look as good as yours, but I would gladly accept one that's at least somewhere in between.
And let's not even relive what happened to Anakin.
I really fear the factory paint apps on Obi-Wan. I swear if that one doesn't look close to what was shown at SDCC I will have a freakin' cow.

I know you would Mikey, my point is the sculpt really was that good and your paint job, for the first time, shows that.
I guess I am still trying to get over that.
Mat Falls should sue the painters.

Got ya. Well, that's the one thing I think might be a miss on your repaint. His eyes now look as if he is rolling his eyes. Other than that you did a nice job.

True. But even SSC's one-off Prototype paint job looks like Bantha dung next to Customikey's job. He brought out the greatness of this sculpt much more than we've ever seen before.
Perhaps SSC should contract Mikey to provide the prototype and master paint apps for the head sculpts from now on. (I'm serious!)
